Should I leave the SC and go to an LS
Some of you might remember a tread where I was thinking about selling the SC for a WRX. I quickly got away from that idea and decided to keep the SC. It's a 95 Automatic with less than 110k miles and I I've always wanted to do a 1JZ and 5-speed swap. As you can guess it hasn't happened yet. I've done a little research and can't find anyone local that I trust with the swap (don't have the time, knowledge to do it myself). Lately I've been thinking about a 04-06 LS430.
Anyone made this switch and regretted it? I have a toddler and this is part of the reason I've been thinking about a sedan.
Feel free to persuade me to go to the LS or stay with the SC.

Never owned an LS430, but have an LS460 and SC300. Two completely different cars. If you have a toddler then the LS is definitely a lot more practical with a baby/booster seat. Having said that.. again, it's a bit apples to oranges. The LS is a boat... while the SC is... a canoe (stock for stock).

If you make a badass coupe, who wouldn't want to picked up in it as a kid. Your kid's gonna love it as he grows up, you are passionate about the SC and kids pick up on that. Sure the LS is more practical, heck it's damn comfy and quiet too.
It's a hard decision to make.

Growing familes require bigger cars, so it would be a good choice for the family.BUT if you can afford to keep 2 cars you should keep the SC for yourself, as your personal escape vehicle.

OP, extremely apples to oranges.
The 1st gen SC series is a great sporty personal cruiser (stock) or Toyota's luxury muscle car (heavily modified SC or Soarer 2.5L)
The LS series is a well made luxury sedan cruiser. The 1995-2000 LS400 is outstanding... but completely different from an SC. No experience with the LS430 or LS460 but it follows in very similar vein to its predecessors.
The Lexus over engineering and design methodology is present in both the SC and LS but they are otherwise very different types of cars for different purposes.

i had a 99 sc300 and a 05 ls430 and had to sell the sc300 at the time because i had to many cars in the driveway. the ls430 is a very nice comfortable luxury cruiser and well built from lexus. they are two totally different cars, if you can swing for both than i think that would be even better.
i miss my sc, im currently in the market for another and looking to do a swap in it.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. Yes I would totally agree that they are apples vs oranges. I currently have a 3rd 4Runner that is more of my Daily Driver since I like to mountain bike and traveling with a kid requires the space of an SUV. So, unfortunately I can't keep the 4Runner, SC and get a. LS although that would be a pretty nice group. As you can tell from the mileage on the SC, it doesn't get driven much and is mainly a weekend, sunny day, dont have need to take my son, car.
The thought behind a sedan is that since it is better equipped for a car seat, I would drive it more and enjoy it more. But I can't help to think I would regret getting rid of the SC. Decisions decisions.

I agree with Rambler.. have both! haha. I too like the ls430. They look good lowered and wheels and the ride is supposed to be awesome. I'm inbetween a truck or getting an ls430 for a daily since I currently daily a NA-T SC300.
In your shoes, I'd probably get a clean LS. If you need to sell the SC then do it, but if not I'd keep it around for future modding or a fun car in general. Just my 2 cents

The LS430 is an awesome family car since the amount of leg room and trunk space it has especially for long drives. Great platform to build on or just leave stock. I still keep my SCs for personal drives and really don't care to have anyone in the back seat. If you have the room, I'd say store the SC aside and daily the LS.
