Hi all just though I would drop a quick post with a little back story. I have always been a gear head and loved cars. Growing up in the DC area in the 80s and 90s I was all in on the Japanese sports boom of the early to mid 90s. I went to college in the fall of 96 and my hand me down car died that winter. Not being able to afford my true love (a TT supra targa) I bought a 92 sc300 5speed with heated seat knowing how related it was. I loved that car and kept it to 2001 when it got a little long in the tooth and went from that to a string of cool cars from a Z06, G35 coupe, WRX, CTS-V and a M6 convertible. While I loved all of those cars the sc300 always had a special place in my heart partially due to it's over all quality but also it was a great time and period to own a Lexus coupe. In the 90s there was no such thing as an old Lexus and where the other kids might have had an integra or mustang, the Lexus always stood out. My only complaint then were the 15in rims, soft suspension and quite exhaust.

Fast forward 15 year and I have moved to the edge of the city so parking isn't as scarce and fun cars have given way towards third rows and slush boxes. But the SC has always stayed on my mind and I have been looking for one for a couple of years now but unwilling to settle. I saw a really low miles green one in Cali in the same color as my old one for 15k and reached out asap but it had already sold. Figuring it would be another couple of years until I saw one I kept trucking along. Then a renaissance red 97 with tasteful mods with only 51k miles for way to much money listed on eBay. I chalked it up to opportunity costs realizing that 16k is way easier to find than true survivors in niche cars. While it might be the current top of the market, I bought it from an similarly minded enthusiast who had all the original wheels and parts and threw them in. Current and only planned mods
18in racing hart 3 piece staggered aluminum rims
Tien adjustable coilovers
Axel back exhaust
Trd shift **** with red stitching
K&N filter
PIAA 2500k fogs and high beams

I spent some money to do a complete service; all fluids, pads/ cross drilled rotors, timing belt, water pump and thermostat & tensioner and a few little cosmetic things.

I am shooting on getting her back to a condition 2 and just driving this old school analog jewel in our rapidly digitizing world.

Beautiful car, Crypto79! And thank you for sharing your history. That is indeed a string of unique cars and you owning a 1992 5-speed IN the 1990's is really special.
