Default 1995 sc300 key

I need help with buying a new key. I have look on the other threads and posts but none of them answered my question. And also those threads are 10 years old. Bust all i need to know is if i can program the 3 button key even though the original key was the 1 button key that only locked and unlocked the doors. It would be nice if i could pop my trunk with the key. Thanks in advance peeps

It would be nice to know that it can be done, I always thought there is only lock/unlock (1 channel toggle rf control).

To fully benefit from trunk release, the car would have auto lift. No fun if you have to lift the trunk up by hand.

Well there is the newer 3 button key that has a button for lock, unlock, and trunk. And im not talking about the trunk fully opening just the ability for the key to have a button that can to open the trunk. Because right now on a 95' sc300 you have to either stick the key in the lock in the back of the car to open it or you have to use the switch on the inside of the car, which can be super inconvenient if you are holding things in your arm and you have to open the trunk

I fully understand what you are looking for. My feeing is that 95 model is not equipped to release trunk by rf (remote signal) and having 3 button key would not make that happen. The vehicle has to have 2nd channel to understand trunk release.

We are hoping to find some one who did a mod (take the newer (2/3 channel transceiver) form a later model and retro-fitted it.

I was going further, where even once the trunk lock is released, you will have to use your elbow to lift the trunk (provided you have a spoiler) with things in your hand. Or really bend down and catch the number plate area with your elbow,

A 'nice' after market solution should include tail lift option. Incidentally, I had that feature for few days after I changed my tail lift strut. I guess folks without the spoiler can use the spring balance to lift the trunk.

Okay that would make sense. So i guess my second question is can i program a 3button remote in the first place? It has proven difficult trying to find a new 1 button key replacement

An aftermarket remote setup would be so much easier and likely much cheaper.

The (1992-1994) 1 button keys cannot be programmed. When you purchase a 1 button key from the dealer, it comes with a corresponding ROM chip which is located in the door lock ECU. The key must match the chip in order to work.

As for trying to program a 3 button key to your car, you will need to get the corresponding door lock ECU that is already programmed to the key and see if it can be wired to replace your current door lock ECU....IF it's possible....

Plus what dealer still has the 1 button keys? I'd take a set with the new a ROM just to have it working as it should. I heard somewhere that the 95-96 were different from the 92-93. I got a 93.

Don't know about the "rom" but, you can program replacement keys to the car...if, you make sure the replacement key has the same RF ID code as the original. If you look on the back of your original key there is a code which signifies the radio frequency of the key/receiver. Your replacement key would need to have the same ID to be able to program it. Further, no, none of the 3 button remotes will work because they are on different radio frequencies. At least not out of the box, maybe replacing other parts in the car would make it work but you're way better off getting an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry system with those fsatures.

I'm sorry let me rephrase this, 1992-1994 1 button keys cannot be programmed and will only work when you have the corresponding chip with the key. 1995 is the only year that had the 1 button key that IS programmable. 1996-1997 had a standard key with a separate remote.

Can you purchase a shell for a '95 key? I have my original button key, but it has a crack and the button fell out. I'm pretty sure it would work with a new battery and shell. I could probably transfer the physical cut key over to a shell too. Is that a possibility?

Thanks,

I think this is the best alternative to what the original poster is looking for. I don't think it can pop the trunk, but it would give you the 3 button style key.

I have found this is not the case for 1995 MY. I recently purchased a key on ebay and programmed it to my 95 Sc300.

The key part number is 89742-24070
The key FCC ID is HYQWDT-B
The door control receiver FCC ID is HYQWDR-C

I programmed it using the following steps and it worked first time.

Programing Instructions for Lexus Keyless Remote:

1. Start with key out of switch, drivers door open, all other doors and trunk closed, doors unlocked.

2. Insert key in ignition, DO NOT TURN ON, and remove key.

3. Using drivers side power door lock button, lock and unlock doors 5 times within 40 seconds, ending with doors unlocked.

4. Close drivers door and open it. Again lock and unlock doors 5 times within 40 seconds, ending with doors unlocked.

5. Insert key into ignition and turn from LOCK to ON to LOCK one (or more see below) time. Remove key from ignition.

One time to add a new code.
Two times to add a new code and erase all previously stored codes.
Three times to check how many codes are currently registered.

6. Remove key from ignition. Receiver should respond by cycling the door locks a corresponding number of times:

One time to add a new code.
Two times to add a new code and erase all previously stored codes.
One to four times (slowly) to indicate how many codes are registered end).

7. Press lock button on transmitter for at least one second. Door locks will cycle.

8. Within 20 seconds, close drivers door and open it and press button on transmitter again for at least one second.

9. Door locks will cycle. Wait 20 seconds and registration will be completed.

One time to confirm operation is complete.
Two times to signal that the code is already registered.

**if it does not work, start over from beginning, it may take several attempts. If it does not work, contact your local dealer.
