Default Stange Electrical Problem

Hi Everybody

One night I went with a couple of friends to get dinner and I came back and parked my car as usual with the lights on auto. I left the car with the lights off and went to bed and I woke up the next morning with a text from the campus police saying my lights had been on the whole night. I went to check if my battery was dead and sure enough it was out of power. I get someone to help me jump my car but the jump isnt working (no clue why) so I replace the battery with a new one. I get in the car and the light on the dash says my door is open so I thought I had fixed the problem but when I put the key in, the steering wheel deosnt move forward and the engine wont start .

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Thanks for the help

My only guess is the security system somehow got engaged and is disabling the ignition. (You've got dash lights, so the new battery is working.) You should be able to test that by getting out, locking the car, waiting 30+ seconds, then unlocking it and trying to start it again.

I've seen this issue before on the forums. search "car won't start with jump" and you may find the thread. There was a solution. It was a few years ago.

I had a very similar issue couple of years ago, I would turn off the car and then lights would come back on. Some times even radio would turn on, it was like I had the key in the car but it was not started. There is a plug that I think is meant for the old phone system not plugged into anything. In the trunk on the drivers side fender tub, water had got in the tub and was shorting connecter. All I did was clear the drain and removed the water, then cleaned the connector and zip tied it so it could not ever get into water again. Ever since I never had ghost in the shell in my sc. Some one had a thread that had some info on this some where.

I tried disengaging the security lock and the security light stopped blinking so the security lock disengaged. When I put the key in the ignition the wheel didnt come forward and nothing happened when I turned the key, so I dont think the security lock is the issue. I took the key out and pressed the lock button on the key and I heard a repetitive clicking sound from underneath the steering wheel. The clicking didnt stop, so I turned off the remote key access and the sound stopped. When I pressed the door lock on the armrest the clicking sound happened again but only once.

Maybe a fuse blew? I read another post where a jump start on a SC300 caused a fuse to blow which prevented him from starting his car, but his lights still worked.

Any tips or help would be awesome

Check under your driver side fender to see if wires have been rubbed through. happened to me
