Default 3-D Printed Cupholder

So my SC300 cupholder door/hinge kicked the can, and I thought that spending $30-50 on a used replacement would be a total waste of money, especially considering how flimsy the design is in the first place.

It's 2015 (well, as of this thread), and I have access to a Dremel Idea Builder. Using a 2-D ruler/measuring board from a local craft store, Google Sketchup, and a lot of attention to detail, I managed to make a (accurate enough, I think) 3-D model.

The radius of the front curve is a bit smaller, so I may need to file the curve down a bit. This is preferable to making the radius of the curve too big, as that would require filling.

I plan on printing it this weekend, and either painting it or vinyl-wrapping it next week.

EDIT: Added slots for the metal guide strips. Will need to do some DIY to make the strips themselves.

UPDATE: Printed great, except that I forgot to give the cupholder floor any thickness, so I'll have to make a floor myself! I have added a 1/8" thickness to the cupholder floor and uploaded the model for you guys.

Nice work! I would just assume the factory item be lidless if it could be removed cleanly, so I'd say you're on the right track by simplifying it with no lid in the first place.

Just as a random idea... Maybe design a panel with sayyyy.... a 60mm or 52mm opening and no cupholder behind it?

Ya know, just because!

Or big enough to fit a 20oz bottle rather than just a standard Coke can.

Don't get me wrong, it's still cool. Just would fix one of my annoyances with the cup holder(s.)

How is it going to mount? The factory piece has two metal guides/brackets attached to it.

Shoot... if the cupholder can be 3D printed... can new plastic surrounds for the center air vents be made? Last time I restored mine I think the notorious piece that visibly cracks is entirely removable, after much disassembly.

Just released a revision, including 1/16" slots for new metal guides to go. Will need to make these myself, I'll provide a tutorial on that when I get there!

I don't know about that. I might try to model the entire center wood panel and include cutouts for vents assemblies from another car.

^^ Now that's an idea, yes-- print the whole outside panel. Though I don't see harm in reusing the original SC vent registers since for the most part those bits tend to stay together. Anyway, interested to see what you come up with.
