Default Any hitches that will fit sc 400? Sc 400 manual is needed.

i'm a mountainbiker and I often travel to mountains. I did some googling and found several projects where authors' Scs can haul sport motorbikes or even jet boats on a trailer:

The most common and durable option ( as it seems to me) was the hitch mounted to the longerons:

Those hitches are widespread all over eBay and USA but since i'm non USA resident it will cost me a fortune, so i 'm looking for some replacement. Dealers in my country can only offer hitches for a relatively new cars. Could anyone drop me an sc 400 manual, so i can look up appropriate numbers ( i dont think any hitch seller will share specs on it)

If you're only going to use the hitch for mountain bikes than I would say grab a roof rack from Yakima. Pretty sure the hitch has to be welded in place and that may hurt the resale or look bad depending on taste. If you're going to haul other things than hell yeah, grab a hitch!

BTW, welcome to the forum!

That's what U-Haul told me when I was going to look at one for this exact reason, so I got a roof rack lol

Edit: I just searched Google and apparently there are tons of trailer hitch options that are bolt on.. I had no idea..

I have the Curt hitch on my car, and it's very well made, bolts right in with the existing bolts. It's very easy to do. This is the exact one I have.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Curt-Class-1...hSDnpZ&vxp=mtr

If I were you I would order the same set up and pay the extra shipping cost whatever it is because Curt is a name backed by reputation. They've been doing this a long time. If you're looking into building your own you can find the info on your own car. Simply take measurements under your muffler, there are two heavy steel brackets with 4 bolts, can't miss it. I doubt any manual has that information listed.

Whaaaaaaa that's awesome and cheap! Throw that on and maybe a tranny cooler if you're towing anything heavy and your set.

You're still limited to a ton by the hitch itself. Transmission wise you have to worry about weight and aerodynamics. A ton shouldn't be too bad. Anything that's under a ton probably doesn't have that bad of aerodynamics behind the car, unless you try to make it bad. I would think the tranny could deal pretty well with small loads (like a jet-ski or 2, small tent trailer, or a motorcycle) unless you make a serious habit out of it.

Putting a bike or two on one of those hitch-racks might be handy as long as it doesn't get too heavy (200 LBS hitch weight limit.)

вау, вот это неожиданно!=)
Roof rack does not seem reliable to me.
I spammed local shops, they dont have any hitches for SC, the money they want for a custom made is equal to the new Curt hitch, so I'll go for it . Will class 1 be enought for me?

I didn't see a Curt hitch bigger than class 1.

If you're just putting bicycles on it you'll be fine. Just don't put more then 200lb's direct weight on the ball itself and you're good to go.

I don't think there's an officially listed tow capacity, but trailers.com says 1600lbs for 92-97 and 2000lbs for 98+ SC300 and SC400. Doesn't seem to list a difference between auto and manual for 92-97.
