'99 SC300 sold at Barrett Jackson
FYI:
10/3/15 Las Vegas Barrett Jackson auction (Car Throttle article https://www.carthrottle.com/post/the...vegas-auction/)
The 10 Coolest Cars Snapped Up At The Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction
People tend to go bonkers at a Barrett-Jackson auto auction, but there are still some great buys to be had. These ten cars may not have been the cream of the crop, but they're cool machines and should be great investments for their new owners.
Attend a Barrett-Jackson auction off the primetime schedule, however, and you just might score a cool car for a surprisingly cool price. Here are ten great buys that took place at last weekend’s auction.
Lot 1.1: 1999 Lexus SC300 Coupe - $4400

The very first car on the block is one of my unsung favourites; a 2JZ-powered Lexus SC300. Unfortunately this one was equipped with the automatic transmission, but for $4400 it’s tough to complain, especially when it’s in excellent condition with less than 100,000 miles on the odometer.

Whenever I've watched their shows, I'm amazing how cheap the non-classics are.
The description probably didn't help matters on that SC, making it sound as if M/T were an unselected option, when in fact it wasn't available after '97. The car is as desirable as a '99 can be, and looks to have been a steal for that price. Does the buyer pay an additional % fee on their auctions or is it only the seller?

Taking anything other than a classic to barrett jackson is a stupid idea since they only want classics there anyway. It's mostly full of senile old boomers with money to blow and childhood dreams to fulfill.

Yeah, the fact that it went for $4400 in a setting that doesn't value that sort of car tells me that the seller was right in turning down soloist3's $4500 offer. It was probably worth closer to $6k. (I'm assuming the interior is as pristine as the exterior or they likely wouldn't allow it on stage.) He just erred in taking it to B-J, probably having lost patience in finding the right buyer.

Agreed it's worth more but I know the market pretty well and he was not interested in holding on to it to get 6k, that's why I offered him 4500. Also, I can't remember what was going on with the car but the exterior wasn't as perfect as it looked in those pics, also it was a repaint that had some sort of issue, one of those good not great repaints. It's been so long since I talked with him it's hard to remember the details but yeah, it did look like a clean SC, well that is until I found mine; which was a collectors car, 117k milea, FLAWLESS, not even a ding on the whole body car, $3200...yeah, I am proud of that...though a 98+ SC400 would have had me in stitches :-D
