setting cam timing
96 sc400 looking like my timing is off I think. I've been thinking it's my cam sensor and or wiring harness or ecu which I've already replaced due to bank 1 cam sensor CEL after goin crazy I looked more into the timing because I've replaced everything I can think of. So I set the crank at tdc tried one cycle cams didn't line up tried a second cycle and they still didn't line up from what I could tell so I'm assuming the cam timing is set wrong would that throw a bank one cam sensor CEL. Is there any specific way to set the cam timing or do I just rotate the timing gear to the timing marks and that's it then reinstall timing belt? Any help is greatly appreciated

Cams run & 1/2 rotation to crankshaft. somewhere back in the threads here is a thread that has timing instructions posted by "Slide" it is titled 2000 SC 400 Timing belt, in answer to someone else's problem. Instructions are good for 96 1UZ also.

are you looking at the marks on the belt or the marks on the cam and the cam cover.
the marks on the cam should line up with the cam cover.
the marks on the belt are only for original installation, and once turned the marks on the belt will not line up anymore with the marks on the cam until you do like 100's of revolutions because its designed like that.
But, every second time you turn the crank around the cam marks should line up with the cam cover.
