Default manual tranny swap help ASAP (please)

ok I am swaping my tranny cause the 2nd gear synco is bad, so I bought what I thought was another w58 tranny and everything looks the same except for the shifter assembly its a little longer about 3 - 4 inches longer so the shifter will not fit up into the car.

why are these different , is one from a supra? or a 95 sc300 manual tranny different from a 92??

I am I just screwed or is there something I can' do to make this work?

thanks

all the rest of the tranny seems to be the same except for the black thing on the end of the newer tranny, its about 1 inch difference I guess when the shifters are installed ... I could cut the shifter hole bigger but I want to make sure the tranny will work. and if the tranny is from a newer sc300 or a supra.

thanks

Exclamation manual tranny guys only

just so you guys know ... lexus/toyota changed the shifting assembly of the W58 I beleive in 95 when the tranny tunnel was slightly changed but the tranny could have changed before that. but I doubt it. so 92-94 manual trannys are interchangable and then 95-97 have a slightly different tranny which is 3 inches longer and a little taller becuase of the shifting assembly. (still the same W58 of course)

im going to research more info about this too

so the only good thing that came out of it was when the mid-section of the exhast was taken off and the car was started ... cool as hell , sounded almost like a v8 really loud but deep too.

anyways the faq's should be updated.! so people know.

Default WTF goodguy

goodguy........ If you didn't know a LEXUS is a TOYOTA.......... and prob the reason that not alot of people posted is because no one who has looked at this thread knows about a manual tranny. If you haven't notice like umm 90% of the SC are AUTO........... You know people have LIVES and don't hang out on this board and read everything as soon as it is posted. If I had a answer I would help, but I am not going to sit here and lie and tell him something I don't know ****** about and then have him ****** something up.............

I don't see how you can call us Lexus ****** when you own the same thing... And also can't see how we are ******?? How so, because we don't know something that is asked? What we are supposed to know EVERYTHING? And I never said anything about you saying something about being crappy.......... I was just pointing out reasons why this post was not answered..........

If I remember right the transmission tunnel on the 92-94 sc 300 needed to be lengthened or made slightly bigger to accommodate a supra 6 speed but the 95+ did not. I know that this is not directly related top you but it shows that there are slight differences in the ways the transmissions mount in different years.
Maybe one of the guys that did a 6 speed swap might have more info.

goodguy: SW20 are great, usdm 3s-gte? what gen is yours?
those cars aint all that, it has way too much understear, so you cant drift much in those cars.
i drove one, and tried to drift a turn, and the car was all over the place.
even with Tein HA suspension.
sports car are great, but i feel more confortable driving a luxary car around. plus they're pimp and the chicks jocks.

what forums you chill in?
