Default What's it worth? 99 SC400 - 78k miles - "Like New" condition

I have just listed my 99 SC400 on Craiglist Houston, and would like opinions on my pricing. It is in Like New condition and has the lowest mileage on a 99SC400 that I could find on internet.

Your thoughts would be appreciated!
Tom

i would say 7k easily, that VVTI 1uz is awesome. is the interior black, what color also? post some pics. 98+ 400s are hard to come by and in great condition can go for a pretty penny.

I think you could get up to 9K or more if you don't mind waiting. They are rare cars, I would buy it if I could afford it.

If you find the right owner, you should do ok. It will be tough in some circles as the BEST turbo builds can be had for your asking price on the CL ad. If you find someone that prefers a pristine stock model, it will sell. $7-9K sounds easier. The $12K is possible, but it would surprise me. I got a clean 5 speed with 68K for $3,500, so great deals exist.

Just use a site such as Kelly Blue Book to get the price range. Since u already listed it on Craigslist u must have the price you're looking for listed.

There was a 99 millennium silver, black interior, sc400 BEAUTIFUL inside and out for sale at a lexus dealership here in norcal a couple months ago. It had like 110k on it and they were only asking $8500 if memory serves correct...

Edit: the one at lexus was a 98 silver w/ black interior, but the description was for one at a mom and pop dealer in concord

At that price, you are going to be sitting on it for a while, especially with some of the nitpicks I have with it.

1. Headlights are hazed over and need to either be refinished or replaced.

2. Peeling paint on the dash trim by the volume ****.

3. Not the best color combo IMO. Not a huge fan of grey/browns, but that is the big trend now days, so maybe its an asset. Also while I love a clean tan interior, black would look better with that particular paint color, IMO.

Sorry if that's a bit harsh, but IMO you're really reaching the top of the market with that $12,500 price. I'd say drop it to $9900 and don't take less than $9500 for it. On an older car like this that somebody is going to pay cash for, people tend to put up a psychological barrier at $10,000, so when they search by price your car doesn't even pop up.

I couldn't have said it better myself. 10k or less for a cash car of this class is an obvious way to go. The only way your getting 12k is if some dad happens to be searching for his daughter a beater to drive and see's this car and reminds him of his dream car 15 years ago. No one LOOKING for an SC will go that high, at least I wouldn't knowing the same model in better condition could be had for less with just a little out of town searching.

I sold my '99 (black/tan ~90k) for close to your asking price back in March. But my car had a lot of pricey modifications..

...took me about 3 months to sell, but the right buyer came along and appreciated the car itself, as well as everything done to it.

Thanks for the great feedback everybody. I am probably pricing it high because of my personal appreciation of the great car that it is. But as a lot of us have learned, our thoughts on the great engineering that went into the SC300/400 is not shared by a lot of people.

Got any pics? With such low miles and in excellent condition your looking at maybe 8-10k realistically. Waiting for the right buyer may take awhile.

The market for these cars are hitting rock bottom. People would carelessly buy a SC in bad shape rather than a great one trying to save a few grand.
