Default Wheels chipping due to stretched tires

I know a large percentage of SC owners are rocking stretched tires. What do you do about the paint chipping on the outer edge? After just 2000 km my rims look like crap. The fronts are fine (18x9s with 235/40s) but the rears chipped all the way around (18x10s with 255/35s). I know a tire with a rim protector would help, but I can't find any now. Falken used to make some but I don't think the new models have it.

It'll only chip if your rim hits something. Mine has never chipped or scratched and I have really aggressive stretch(235 on a 10 up front and 275 on an 11.5 in the rear). You sure it's not hitting the fender inside the wheel well? Or maybe you've curbed it the entire 360?

The best way to avoid those is to stay away from the curbs!!!
Tires has nothing to do with your rims chipping, its how low your ride is and how close your fender to your rim.

when I did 245/35/19 on my 11s, had chips here and there.

I live out in the country I rocks and no pave roads are driven on occasion

also depends on the wheel quality

im rocking stretched tires no issues here. you must be hitting your fender with the rim if you havent curbed it.

Don't knock the OP guys. It most certainly happens. I had 235 on an 8.5" wheel and 265s on a 10.5" wheel. On the fronts it was very minimal but the rears looked horrific. Using her as a daily on MD roads doesn't help.

Back to the OP, if the aren't polished or painted a non-metallic finish, you can sand the edges with some light-grit sandpaper. Otherwise you're going to have to pull them and give them to a repair shop with a finishing wheel. G/L.

I've run stretched tires on my LS and SC300. I've gotten chips before but I'm pretty sure they are rock chips. I've never touched a curb either.

You can get chips on a meaty set or a stretched setup.

You can absolutely get chipped wheels without curbs. Just like the front bumper and hood etc gets rock chips from debri, so do the lips/rims since they are sticking out and no longer have the tire to protect them. Makes perfect sense. That's just the price ya pay for stretch, kinda like getting a ticket for tint, just pay it and move on..
