Alternate tire sizes for stock rims, 95 SC400
Hey guys, hoping to get some info on this quickly.
I'm in urgent need of new tires on my 95 SC400. It's got the stock 16" chrome rims.
Currently, it has the recommended 225/55r16 tire size on it. I'm sadly unemployed, so money is tight and I need some tires on ASAP, and don't want to risk getting ****ty used tires.
That said, I'm unable to find 225/55r16 tires within my budget, however I've found several 215/60r16 and 225/65r16 size tires within my price range.
From what I understand, the 215/60 will be a couple mm shorter, which I wouldn't mind, but at the sacrifice of tread width.
The 225/65 would add on about .4 of an inch to tire height, which I'd like to avoid.
So, questions:
Is it ok to swap with either of these sizes?
If so, which would be best?
And finally, would I have any problem from a large tire chain (Discount Tire, most likely) putting on these different sized tires?
Thanks!

I purchased these cheaply priced tires Kelly Chargers GT several years ago, wearing is low due to the change in speed rating (H) compared to the recommended (V) speed rating. I would Google the cheapest price in your area for tires U might be intrrested in purchasing.

Both alt sizes you mention are taller than stock (i.e. more ground clearance, slower acceleration...)
225/55-16 = 25.74" Stock
215/60-16 = 26.16"
225/65-16 = 27.52"
would not recommend either, I'd stay with stock, or go 245/50-16 (= 25.64") near identical...
Tirerack and discount tire, are my usual suspects, Good Luck!
