my last 92 had them and I enjoyed it, but this 92 SC400 doesnt seem to have the option on the column.

the sensor is there I think but I dont have the feature? I dont get this

Ok, it was my old MR2 Turbo that was a 92, my old lexus was a 93.


did 92s not have that option?

My 92 doesnt have auto headlights..glad it didnt. I dont think it was an option until 95 however. Although I may be wrong.

awe man, they prolly didnt start that until 93, I really like Auto Headlights, its very modern, if you dont like them you dont have to use them right?



if they arent an option why do I have the sensor bulb on my dash?

They may have been an option in 92, I have the sensor as well. I know my Suburban has the auto headlights, and it drives me nuts every time I drive under an overpass.

So since they were an option and not standard, the next question is what do I need to do to get them?

Obviously I need to get The stalk for the lighting control, but what else?

Auto headlights were not available on 92 models and became available on 93 models. The sensor for the auto headlights is located on the top of the dash on the LH side. The sensor for the climate (THERMISTOR) is located on the top of the dash on the RH side. 92 models have the climate (THERMISTOR) sensor on the top of the dash on the LH side.

I'd imagine hooking them up, if you had all the parts would be time consuming...considering you'd have to remove the dash to set the sensors.

My 96 SC400 has them , but I don't use the feature much.

93 and up can have them. on 95 they change what the bulb looks like on the cluster when they are on.
I don't use it too much, with HID's when its on before you go to start the car they tend to suck down a good amount of juice, if you leave that on and the auto steering column on and don't forget to turn off your a/c and stereo when you get in the car and put the key in you loose alot of your charge. in winter it can be the difference between starting and draining the battery.. or it just might be how rarely I drive it these days.. or that alternator upgrade needs to happen.

also on the ones that have it they are adjustable, the round sensor on the dash, you can turn it around. one direction it comes on sooner as in not as dark out to turn it on, the other direction it comes on later as in has to be very dark for it to come on.

Yeah Ali SC3, I think you have to drive your car a little more often...keep that battery charge up.

Your HID's use less power than the stock halogens, so they're actually helping out.

I leave my auto headlights in that position year 'round. Never think about it.
