i got a 97 manual cluster to work on my 92 sc400 with 1jz swap. the only thing i have not been able to get to work is the speed output from cluster to ECU to clear the speed signal code nor the gas mileage calculation from the drive computer in the cluster (i did tap into injector 1)

has anyone got those functions to work? i would like to compare pinouts. otherwise feel free to pm me about what wires splice where. i just spliced the wires at the gauge cluster level, without removing the whole harness.

cheers
Marko

from what i can tell. most of the wires are the same color. im avoiding looking at the PRND2L wires, ECT, and other automatic related functions to clear up the chart. but its so depressing to look at it.

i hate wiring work. im so close to just sending my cluster out for repair and selling this 97 one. ugh.

It's just something that should take a little time, but can't be hard. Doesn't the later cluster have ambient temp? Are you having to add a sensor? This is something I plan to do when I find a new shell since I have a 97 5spd cluster, just figured I'd figure it out when the time comes.

Estomax, you have a manual ecu or auto? Jzx100 manual ecu never threw speed or sub tps or fuel ecu codes, both auto jzx100 and soarer ecus did. Wonder if the auto ecu counts on a speed sensor internal to the auto?

anyone after completing this swap have issues with the temp gauge?

when i had the 92 original cluster inside with the 330 ohm resistor it read pretty close to normal temperature. now with the 97 cluster it goes up. should i double the resistance?

I got everything wired up, works great but one problem, anyone know a fix for the rpm? It works but it reads to high
Also don't use wire taps it's not stable, had to redo everything again. Not fun.

mikef did you use a 6 cyl cluster in a 6 cyl car? if rpm reads high and reads off more the higher rpm you go then maybe you have a 6 cyl cluster in an 8 cyl car. i had that when i had a 6 cyl in a 4 cyl car and stock tach.

Yup my mistake sc400 cluster in a 2jz. Is there a fix? Maybe replace the tach motor?

Not the motor, the main circuit board assembly which is easier said than done.

It would be easier to just find the another SC300 cluster.

Doom light, you should have no resistor in the temp circuit. That's incorrect. Guessing you have the ground reference pin I'm the wrong place
