Default 1JZGTE Tach Fix 92-94 & 95-96

While swapping in a different gauge cluster from a 95 into a 92 chassis research was required to make sure it was a direct swap. After consulting w/ many old threads and on multiple forums, it was founded that it is a direct swap without issues. SC300 to SC300 Chassis.

Upon installation of the 95 cluster, the RPM's were founded to not be working.

Further research was needed as my chassis was 1JZGTE equipped.

After deeper research 7+years back there were some threads that stated a resistor could be jumped to input a tach signal. Below with pictures will help guide with the install.

Tools:
Soldering Iron or Gun
Safety Glasses
1" of Wiring Stripped On Both Ends

1. Removing Gauge Cluster is Required For This Mod: PULL YOUR NEGATIVE TERMINAL BEFORE REMOVING GAUGE CLUSTER!

2. Removed the 4 Phillips Screw Holding The Back Housing

3. For the 92-94 SC300 Gauge Cluster You Will Need to Solder in A Wire To Jump the R109 resistor, This is located At the Top of The Arc Of The Cluster (This was done by the previous owner w/ alot of Excess Wiring)

4. Moving On To The 95-96 Cluster You Can View Where The Wiring Was Soldered In. This Resistor Is R73, located also at the Top Of The Arc Of The Cluster.

5. Reverse The Procedure and Enjoy Your Working Tach w/ 1JZGTE

Thank you. Looks simple. Im getting my gauge cluster back from Tanin Electronix...they fixed the speedo and redid all the lighting but all it needs now is this mod for my 1J when it goes in. :-D

Thanks Eldon, the hardest part was doing the hour worth of research to confirm which resistor. Soldering in the wire took 5 Mins including disassembling.

Nah man not even close, soarer requires even more work than the 97+ cluster.

Good Luck Though!
