I want to replace my car lighter. I already have a replacement, just need help with pictures on what to do after I remove the console. Any help would be appreciated!

Are you looking to replace the whole ashtray or just the cig lighter? I never did figure out what holds the lighter in. It seems to have little snap rings of some sort, and no obvious way to disassemble.

more than likely you will have to pry it out...
there is some type of tension force on it.

Not the ashtray, just the lighter well.

Remove the whole center console. Turn around to expose lighter component....There is a piece on the component you can twist to unscrew off. Then the lighter will be able to be removed

Ok, to remove it pull the center trim, you have to remove shifter first then shifter surround which has three plugs. The center trim has two plugs on top left as well. Once you get those two pieces out if the way you need to remove radio/hvac/ashtray assembly. Once removed there is a blue plug to the lighter, remove that. Once you have the ashtray upside down you will see a crimped looking ring around te lighter. You need channel locks to twist it off (lefty loosey) when you start twisting it will shatter and crack a clear/white plastic trim. Ignore this piece as it is brittle. Once you have it off you can install your start button or cig lighter of choice.

Hope that helps it really is simple. Only issue you may have is the cig lighter spinning while trying to remove clamp (the crimped looking ring)

Alright so I got the ashtray out instead, so that I could go back inside, cuse it is so hot outside.
I need to know what to do next because it seems like it has 2 different parts to it.
How do I take it out?

Read my post above please. You may feel slow when you find out. The round part twists off, it connects everything together. Te square part is the light.

Ahh... I tell you plugging in my phone with that satificationary ding that it is charging felt soooo good. Took longer than expected, I had a new part that didn't fit, so I had to bend a part to hold it together, but thanks to everyone that posted, it really helped out!

That's way easier than I was expecting. The crimped lock ring is the key, and it loosens easily with channel locks. Just make sure to disconnect the white plug on the back of the lighter so you can pull the front piece out.

My white plastic trim ring on the front was already 1/3 broken, and those little pieces made me think that was the lock ring that had to be loosened somehow. No wonder I was confused. Now I can put my never-used lighter from the broken-hinged ashtray in the good ashtray with the gunked up lighter...
