SC300 1JZ Swap-Chicago Area
Hi everyone!
I am relatively new here to Club Lexus and I had some questions for all you members out there that know a lot more than me. I have recently become interested in purchasing an SC300 and doing the 1JZ-GTE swap into it. I live in the Chicagoland area and I was wondering if anyone knew any reputable shops in the area who could perform the swap and everything. I am a college student so I do not have a lot of time on my hands to do it myself, let alone the extensive knowledge to do it myself. I was also wondering if someone could give me a cost estimate as every thread I go on gives me a new money figure. Thanks for your time!

There are too many variables for anyone to give you pricing information.

Appreciate the response! I will definitely be checking them out in the near future. They seem to have a lot of experience with the Supra engine, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm pretty positive I would want to go with the R154 manual trans. How much extra would that be instead if the auto?

Manual tranny swap is a lot more labor intensive work, not to mention the expensive cost of that transmission. I would say an exta 2k with a used good clutch it might come with. Thats a couple houndred bucks you should spend to replace, vital component. You would save money if you would do some of the work and pieced your own swap.
