Default Drift motion r154 shifter extension

Hey everyone so I had Drift Motion weld an extension on my shifter retainer for my R154 that was going into my 95 SC original 5spd.
I haven't found alot on this issue, but what are people doing to their shift boot and plastic piece surrounding the boot?
As of now if I put my stock boot plastic piece back on It hits and cannot shift into 2nd, 4rth and reverse due to the shifter traveling to far back.
So question is does someone make custom shift boot for SCs?
or are people who had this issue just cutting it to fit?

Every swap I know of uses the OEM 5-speed manual surround with the integrated boot. There is no aftermarket solution but I did read of an interesting modification to the stock bezel in a V160 swap thread-- apparently there was some minor hitting there too. I can't remember if it was the upper or lower section that was shaved a few millimeters before reattaching the leather boot but if I had to guess it would be the lower section.

This V160 thread also involved an MKIV 6-speed tunnel swap to fit the stock tripod location but your tunnel opening should be very similar already.

How far back did Aaron extend the housing for you and are you using a Beech or similar straight shifter?

Try searching for the thread I mentioned above. I do believe the bezel modification was done to address a very similar issue.

seems liek you are using a shifter that has a bend in it.. with that overpriced extention you need to be runnign a shifter that is straight up. with that extention on a 95 it should be dead center in the shifter boot. if its not then something was not done right. there should be no issues. make sure its smack in middle of the boot and also your shifter should be straight bar.. no swan neck.

with your shifter i think they extended it too much. You should ask them to cut your shifter and reweld it straight.

its suppose to be 4 inches total including whatever bend if any in your shifter. If you have a .75 inch bend aft in your shifter than minus that from your total number of inches that needs to be extended. I did mine at 3.5inch extension and it a .5 inch bend on my shifter. It was perfect in the middle.

I Would hope there is a bend in your shifter, or else your extension is too long.

How does the shifter look like? here's mine with the extension. It's a MKIII R154. I had to "flip" mine the opposite of how it sits in a MKIII to allow it to be centered due to the bend.

bend looks like its the right way on that picture, how does it look with the shifter trim on?
maybe something is missing I mean why wouldn't they just make it an inch shorter so you don't have to use a straight shifter which has to be custom made or have to flip the shifter upside down just for it to work. I would extend it less and use a regular shifter with a slight bend in it. If its just for lining it up with the auto hole, I mean can't most of us just drill another hole with a holesaw its not that difficult.
