SC400 Price Survey
I'm considering buying a 99 or 00 SC400. I know they're rare. I hope there are some browsers out there who can give me a sense of what one should have to pay for such a car.
Your actual experience is most valuable but I need details.
Was it from a dealer or not?
Lexus certified?
Miles, condition, color, options?
What part of the country are you in?
And how much did you pay?
Otherwise, any info you have from local ads, etc. is useful.
I've already done the Edmunds/KBB/NADA pricing exercises. I'd like to know how they relate to reality.
FYI, there were only 655 SC400s produced in 1999 and only 86 in 2000. I've never seen them mentioned in colors other than gold, silver, black and white. How boring!
Thanks for your replies.

I just bought my '99 last month. It's Pearl, tan interior, gold package. Fully loaded, traction control, premium sound, etc...And the best part...only 23,000 miles!!!
I found it on autotrader.com, it was one of those basic listings that people don't have to pay for. The guy's mother had passed away and left it to him...Very nice guy, just not the kind you'd ever find on this forum, because when he picked me up in it, he was spilling coffee on himself, he had one of those tacky trash bags hanging off the steering wheel. I had the intense desire to yell at him about how he was treating his own car
Anyway, I don't think he fully realized the gem he had, and so he sold it to me cheap!!! I don't really like saying the price...so many people ask...discussing money is just as tacky as the trash bag...let's just say that I stole it for under 25 large
I am in Champaign, IL, and the car was in Detroit, MI. I just hopped a plane and then drove it back.
I ran the VIN on KBB, and the number that was spit back out was something around $36,000
I found another one from a dealership the other day, a Pearl '99 with about 32,000 miles...didn't have traction control, or the gold package, and they wanted 34k!
The reason the prices for a lot of them are coming down now is because of the market doing so poorly. It is a great time to buy!!
Good luck with your search!!! I was looking for years before I found "the one", just had to wait until I could afford it

99' SC4 should sell between $29K - $32K(price before options) is the miles are in range... The retail value (WHICH YOU SHOULD NOT PAY) with all options is as stated closer to $35K...
The wholesale price is $29K plus options... You may get a STEAL @ $25K(FANTASTIC PRICE) if you buy it from an ignorant private owner... Right FlyLexus

Yeah, just try and find a private seller that obviously fell a$$-backwards into money and therefore has no idea what the SC is truly worth. Thank god he wasn't a member of CL, because now I am!!!

I drove a 00 SC400 yesterday. It was too high miles (52k) and too rough for me. As CPO from a local dealer, $33,800 asking.
Doesn't drive much differently than my 96. The gated shifter would take a little getting used to and the feel of the larger brakes is different. Also the doors seem much less bulky/close easier. Maybe mine just need to be adjusted!
