I'm no electronics guru, but I would imagine the toughest part of a clean push-button start would be the stop mechanism. I think that the start button should also be the stop button, but that would take some logic circuitry to execute properly. When you get in the car with the fob in your pocket, you should be able to push the start button to start the car. Then, to shut down, you hold the start button down for a couple seconds. That would be ideal to me. Of course, you should also wire up a timer so that if you get in the car and just sit for whatever reason, the fuel pump does not run continuously. Obviously, a well executed push-button start/stop system is not simple or cheap to implement.

You know that now you mention that, that is a quite an idea. I am sure someone on here has done it but maybe to not that extent. That could take some wiring, patience, and some wiring guru's.

I been thinking about doing this for the pass like 2 years but it seems pointless to do since the key is still needed to activate the ignition.. If there was a way to modernize the ignition to say a sensor on your key.. I would be all over it

Looks like a nice turn-key....I mean...uhhhh...COMPLETE system It does not describe the engine stop procedure, but I'm sure it operates the way I described earlier...

hold button car turns off, walk away and doors lock and windows roll up. the nub kit is cool too.. cut the key and basically it sits in ignition all the time but unless the thing is in the car it wont do anything.. either kit is nice to bring the car up to date. the body is timeless. gahh i love my sc.. lol

does anyone have a diagram of all the wires? i tried looking in a shop manual but can't figure out what to search for so i end up getting like 50-1000 results when i search for something like key, ignition, or key cylinder. i have some switches and i wanna make a switchboard to start my car. no key, just flip the switches to turn on ACC, ON, and then a push start to start the engine. yes i know it's not "safe" but i have an idea on how to make it safe.

I wanna see somebody install the new OEM one's; with the transponder ...
There's no sense in having a push-button, if you have to put the keys in the ignition.
However, a genuine system that's keyless, is more contemporary.

For the record I'm the only one who voted "horrible" lol.. I commend your time and effort, no doubt that was a big job to tackle, but the idea of a push button start and STILL needing to insert your keys and turning them to ON is a total waste of time and really tacky, in my opinion... I'm not a fan of doing mods just because you can, they need to be tasteful, make sense and take a step forward in whatever path you're after in your car.

Again I'm a huge fan of "to each their own" but since this was a voting thread, this is my vote.

I'm still planning on converting my volume **** in to a sub level ****. My sub amp doesn't have a gain control and it seems to have a lot more gain than the factory amp that's running the main speakers, so I have to turn the sub output of my deck way down. When the deck loses power this resets and the sub is crazy high and I worry about blowing the factory sub. Plus I like having the immediate control rather than 3 menu levels deep (menu, audio, sub, level, then touch screen +/-.) I found a few passive line level volume controls on amazon that might fit decently. I just gotta get around to doing it.
