What does everyones car idle at?
I was just wondering what everyone's car idles at? Last night, my car was idleing at about 600RPM and I think it is usually right below 1000RPM. Is there sometime wrong with the car? THanks

this morning (like 20 degrees out) my car started up at 1900rpms , but once it got warm it settled down to 500. if you cant seem to get below 1000-ish, check your throttle, maybe one of the cables is loose and isnt pulling back all the way (my bmw had a problem just like this). the ghetto way to fix it would be to attach another wire onto the lose cable to hold it back, but that would also make the gas pedal harder to push on (and who knows how long this setup would last, heh).

600rpm with gear in "D" No AC
700rpm with gear in "N" or "P" No AC
700rpm with gear in "D" w/AC
750rpm with gear in "N" or "P" w/AC
Cold start with gear in "N" or "P" 1400rpm
cold start then throw into "D" right away 850-900rpm
my car has never idled below 600rpm. I have a S-AFC comming to me in a few weeks (I'm getting it from a buddy so i have to wait until he gets another before selling me his) so I should have a better idea
anyone with S-AFC, can you verfy???

my car usually idles at 500rpm after warming up.
sometimes, maybe 1 out of 10 times after i drive my car around, the idle goes to 100rpm and jumps up....something wrong with my car i think

if you have vaccum'ed or cleaned your floor mats recently, make sure you placed it back correctly. when I first bought my car, the previous owner didn't put it back good and part of the mat was 'over' the pedals. thats why even when braking, the gas pedal was depressed and thus the rpm jump whenever the foot was over the brake...
stoopid and unlikely... but possible

The SC300 idles between 600 rpm and 750 rpm when it's warmed up. When it's cold outside and the engine is cold it will start with 2000 rpm and gently go down to between 600 rpm and 750 rpm.
I have the S-AFC that repors the RPMs of the car very accuretly. I used to watch this until I moved the S-AFC to the center glove box.
