With retrofitting you fit a different projector inside your headlights, it involves baking your headlights open, splitting them apart, and making the new projector fit! it involves custom work and trimming. By using different projectors you get nicer cutoffs, and more visibility depending on the projector used. I have heard Acura tsx and Honda s2k's have nice projectors! a lot if people like to use those for retro fits.

Sounds more difficult than I want to undertake.

I went on the Philipps Website and then saw something about the
Denso KIt with Ballast.

One question that the site mentioned is the connection to the
Daytime Running Lights

Do those have to be disconnected?

i recommend going with this, same ballasts and same bulbs but at the 265 price range vs the 359. this comes with a free 2 year warranty

That was interesting.
I just got a 99 SC400 in Aug.
the low beams are terrible.
I'm still confused about low beam hi beam.
Do you have to do both or do you just do the low beam

I went on the retrofit website and they sell kits that include
projectors, shrouds, wiring bulbs. So many choices of different projectors and shrouds. It is all a bit overwhelming but I've got to have better lights.

My 99 GS 400 has way better lights than this SC
I've got to say I like driving the SC better

What you can do is start off buy purchasing a plain HID kit for your car, no need for retrofit. It will still make a large difference versus what you have now.

Hey I've got to thank you for the link to theretrosource.com
I've been studying that site and learning
I also went to hidplanet and read a lot of stuff there

My mom passed away in July and left me a little cash which I've decided to spend some at theretrosource
My mom would have a cow!

I'm going to have them install in a set of almost new headlights a bi-xenon FX-R Stage 3 kit
It has Morimoto 3five ballasts
The Bi-Xenon FX-R Projectors
Also upgrading to the Osram 66240 CBI bulbs

They are going to put it all together and ship it to me
Kind of the expensive way to go but they will do most of the work
and they guarantee everything.

I just need to get finished setup installed and enjoy

Hey, sorry I missed your earlier question. My notifications weren't on for this thread.

My Phillips kit uses 4200k bulbs. A bit blue/green before they warm up to temperature and then they become close to a pure white. I'm searching for spare replacement bulbs now (have a long trip ahead of me) and what I've found as the closest match is 4300k bulbs.

For what it's worth they look "white" to me but have a tinge of blue in them but it's not much at all. Very "OEM" color temperature from what I've seen in Factory HID Lexus, Mercedes, BMW and other luxury makes.
