I am trying to remove just the handle cover but it does not seem to come off on its own. I searched and looked and pictures and they're always the whole handle including the metal bracket. How do I remove just the leather grip?! thanks in advance.

pretty sure it's glued on from the factory, have read that some can he-man it off and some can't, honestly when I wanted to switch grips, i just bought a black handle assy for like 30 bucks

Why not just cut it down the middle and pull it off?

... I also bought a black ebrake handle instead of messing with my beige one.

The boot is removable as it is velcro'd on to the mount, the actual handle itself is glued in to it's skin.
