Default 1993 SC 300 Clean Up

I posted a little bit before but I am into the process of restoring my SC300 to its natural beauty and thought I would share some photos.

Backstory: I have been looking for a manual trans SC300 for about 5 years. Most of the cars I found were very well modified or simply haggered. Both ok, but I wanted a clean slate to work from with a skys the limit attitude.

I found a 1993 SC300 5spd black on tan with 80k on it for $3500 about an hour from my house.

With very little hesitation I bought the car, despite it being someone elses version of beauty. I saw loads of potential and with some work, I could get to that clean slate I wanted.

Have had it for about 2 months now, and the photos will bring you current. Wish I had more photos but most of the time working on it has been a whim and I forget to bring the camera out with me.

Starting Point

Previous Owner had a thing for yellow...everything under the hood was yellow...all brake components were yellow....now they have all been cleaned up and painted with a gloss black

One nice day about a month ago I cleaned it up a bit (on old wheels and yellow brakes)

Now we are into the progress...

Stock headlights back in...will do High Beams when the bumper is removed for paint

Maintenance Items

So far - Timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets, distributor O Ring gasket, new radiator, cam seal gaskets, new brakes all around

Modifications - 94 Supra TT OEM shocks w/Tanabe springs, 18" Work Rezax II wheels w/ DDC lips

I will update as I move forward into the paint work.

You're a good person at heart for giving this car some love. Seriously, it's amazing that ppl need to paint every brake component a bright color and apply faux vents on various body panels. I hope you can find some genuine tail lights as well. Those ebay ones make every designer at the Calty Design Research center cry in pain.

I have mint stocks waiting to go in. Just waiting til the last step to swap them out for fear of cracking a lense or something with bodies walking all around the car during "construction"

Its pretty clean...was never really driven in the winter from what I have been told...the usual parts show surface rust but nothing through at all.

I am in Buffalo

Thank you....the DDC lips really make the wheels for me. They are more photogenic than in real life but they are on the refinish list for the winter. redo the lips and powdercoat the centers.

I try not to hate too bad on what other people like, but I guess if no one bought it, no one would make or sell those items.

I'm just happy to be able to put my take on what makes a good looking SC and if others like it, that cool, but If not, it's still going to make me smile looking at it.
