In B4 guys says to use search box, But 5 speeds are pretty rare, and you can also do a 5 speed into a a SC400.
Breakdown- Best years for SC300-95-2000, best year for SC400-97-2000. I have a 1999 400 , So i know how its better than the previous years. But you can get either and still have fun.

I needed a car and and friend told me he knew of a lady who stopped driving this Lexus and was thinking of selling it. I said sure, and I went and picked it up. It wasn't until after I got it when I found out that having a 5sp. SC300 was a rare car to have and a great one at that! I've only had it 5 months and I've had many people say,"Damn, you have a 5sp SC!" and I've had 6 people ask, "How much do you want for it" after they found out it was one of the rare 5sp SC300's! I've had many cars in my life and this is the first one I've been excited to have. Get the 5speed.

Keep looking and don't settle, eventually that right one will come along. Took me nearly 4 months of searching every day to find mine, and it's still totally worth it. There are 5-speeds out there, 1 for every 180,000 people here in the US (assuming ~20% of the those sold here were totaled), the odds aren't so bad.

Either black interior or manual 5 speed is rare
SC400 has the V8 1UZ-FE 4 speed auto only (98+ came with 5 speed auto and VVT-i), 5 speed manual only came on the SC300 from 92-97 (only 120 were made in 97). SC300 has the inline 6 2JZ-GE, all years were 4 speed auto if it wasn't manual
I notice a few things that fit on the SC300 don't fit on the SC400, correct me if I'm wrong but I think more things are compatible for the SC300 than the SC400.

Alot of people buy the auto and then do a transmission swap. The stock jz engine comes with around 250-290 hp. thats not enough for my taste. At least not with how heavy this car is. Depending on how much money you plan on spending and if you want the car to be fast. I would suggest doing a 2jz-gte with manual transmission swap. of course if you are going to have a shop do it then you should probably save up alot more money as the labor will probably be an arm and a leg.

I would suggest not rushing when looking for one. I found my SC the night when I sold my Accord. I could've waited and found some really nice ones for around my budget.

Save up for a clean 5 speed sc dont just go for the first beat cheap one. Any 5 speed in that price range likely will be whooped but good luck man. Hope you find a sweet one.
