What would it take to get a spindle grille on the sc400?

I love how you made it flow with the hood lines. But looks like it's too much going on in the front.

Default A Spindle SC, executed in Sharpie and Whiteout

O.K. here's my take on a spindle SC. Horrible with Photoshop, instead I have used photocopier, Sharpie, Whiteout, and pencil. My version starts the spindle at the MY97 mail slot, and takes the lower edge to the edge of the OE opening for MY 97. Tried to give the lower lip a little contour etc. Starting the spindle lower preserves more of the SCs natural aero-form.

Agreed. At first I just didn't want to take the time to hack up and warp the grille, but after seeing it was just too much, I felt compelled to do a re-edit.

Nice to see a fellow Military SC owner on here. (I assume that's what 10thMtn means.) Your sketch is good enough- it gets the message across; It'd be easy to integrate this into a new kit design

i love the 1st rendering. the two lower duct/fog openings really draw some attention away from the aggressive lines on the grill. add some origin fenders. whew!

would be cool if someone really did this. i have my bets on japan doing it first if anyone.

Thanks for the kind comments on my sketch, always wanted to go to Art Center College for design, sadly that would just make them laugh.

UZZ TT, - I think you are the first to recognize ‘10thMtn’, actually have no direct military affiliation, mostly just honoring our troops, and the Colorado / Camp Hale / Leadville connection. I have Colorado’s ‘10th Mtn’ plates on my SC 400 DD, and my GS 300.

I like how your photo shop works with the horizontal grille bar of the MY 97 mail slot. Unable to reproduce that effect in my drawing, I just went with the F-Sport mesh grille look. If ever something like this came to pass, I’d think it would nice to have a grille type option. You’re good with PS! Ultimately close attention need be paid to match the SC’s curve radii at the ‘L’ inside the Hi beams. Not sure but might work better / simpler to inset spindle so the edges are flush at the lower edge of the bumper (just above the OE main grille opening). That would help keep from adding length to an already enormous car (In fact the spindle ‘flat spot’ in the center might just loose an inch or so…). Would want to keep the chrome accents to a minimum, so I’d be interested in seeing a version with just the GS style spindle ‘fangs’ brought just to the bottom of the OE bumper line. Xmas wish list would have to include incorporation of a Lexus or Griffin insignia. Hmmm????

Rear bumper / Diffuser, cripes!, gonna need more whiteout

I'm torn. I love the SC400 the way it is but seeing how good that SC430 looks makes you wonder what magic could be worked on the original SC.

Lookin' better! Im feelin' it
Can you do the same exact one, but w/ the mesh grill (just to compare)?
Further, can you put the L badge on it (in the regular spot, centered over the mail-slot)?
This might actually become a possibility. Reminds me of a spider ...
