Used to live in Ohio and although I left the SC in the garage most of the winter I did drive it and compared it to my friends 240 w/ lsd and I thought it was easier to drive w/ the lsd. Just my 2 cents on that though because they are two diff cars.

I disagree. I still have the stock non-turbo 2JZ engine in my 5-speed and the LSD was a night and day difference for control during aggressive handling situations. I rebuilt mine with an SC3 automatic ratio though. You said you have a 1JZ swap already? You should install your Torsen when you have the means to do so. Believe me, if a non-turbo SC can benefit then any 1JZ SC can.

The comments about wet weather and snow traction safety are true, however. One needs to treat an LSD car with respect in low traction conditions. My 5-speed, same as all manual SCs, did not come with TRAC. There is a reason the MKIV Supra TT Auto and 6-speed both had TRAC standard, since they usually always came with Torsen LSD's. I believe Soarers were the same in this regard since they had similar drivetrains and options.

But are they beneficial? Yes, absolutely. Look at years of the Miata with Torsen options, the FR-S with a standard Torsen and the Genesis Coupe. There were non-turbo RX-7's and Non-turbo Supras that had LSD packages available from the factory order sheet. Power isn't necessarily a determiner here.
