They are stamped as made in Indonesia- (Have the box sitting here) I'm sure that must be why. Also, high volume production.
*Btw, sorry for jumpin' on you earlier about your question. (*Head explosion) I'm trying to get all the info out there, but it's alot to read I know. My bad.

So, here's my take on what a simplified streamlined factory style inner housing can look like. I think deleting the ***** factory 'City light' all together might be a good idea. They stick out at odd angles anyways, and don't give off a very classy feel. I think just using the factory clear corner light would be enough- and then just carry over that corner light shape, deleting that factory center divider which sections off the corner light from the projector- and, done. Easy- and no one would have to buy any extra parts, keeping costs at the very minimum.

As mentioned before, another big plus of doing the inner housings based on the Ebay lights is that the side edge near the corner lights will look very clean and finished, where-as the SuperMade lenses on factory housings show a strange little gap area and two little tabs, where glue is often visible.

Btw, I picked up my "Ebay lowbeam headlight set" for $204 from Amazon.
I see they are on Ebay for $163 right now, with $28 shipping. Not bad.

Streamlined 'Factory-style' Inner housing concept with no citylight and no center divider: (Photochop)

This isn't the final curved/molded transition shape (from corner light to projector housing) just a visualization.

What if we contacted the people who produced the ebay headlights, and made a few "suggestions" to change their design and guaranteed some sales in return...?

I am sure they would have some incentive, such as producing a headlight that will generate more sales then the **** ones they currently have. Also, maybe we could do a group buy to back the initial sales.

Has anyone tried walking down this alley?

I know i was in here running my trap earlier, but I'm absolutely in for this ebay idea. Should be significantly cheaper and I think one thing a lot of people will like is that if you tear up a lens, you're not going to be out an entire headlight, and its replacement is cheap, all things considered. This is a great, and I would think, feasible idea.

Just spit balling here... but what about a lenseless kit? Just a bad *** bucket with like sealed projectors so water doesn't get in? I've scoured (sp?) the earth looking for a Supermade kit but no one is willing to part from them.

kinda like this.....

Again, spit balling.... (puts flame suit on anyway)

would love to see the city bulb deleted and instead have an integrated audi style led strip as the city light or drl

I don't think a lenseless kit would have mass-appeal. Also, those Supra light inner housings you posted are from an ABFlug kit which includes a clear acrylic lense... Same concept as what we are trying to accomplish here i.e. Inner housing re-design.

RideSkinz mentioned that he can probably offer completed lights, and he works closely with a painting shop- so I'm sure they could do chrome paint. That's the option I'll be going with when/if everything is finalized. Hopefully soon I'll be sending both sets of my lights off to have the prototype inner housings fabricated!

Could just go with a full LED headlight design. If doing the LED like you mention- I would be worried they wouldn't turn out looking factory- they might look like a copy of Audi design, and/or cheap-ish, thus defeating the point of changing the Ebay design. Though, the wiring is already there technically from the Ebay design so it would be easy to integrate from that standpoint... (Either way, definitely wouldn't be using the Ebay SC led bulbs as I heard they burn out quick.) Would hate to have a faulty LED...

They have these LED High and Low beam units now on Ebay for 350Z, Corvette, and Mustang. Same concept as the latest Audi LED headlight designs. Just a thought. Would make the costs more to get the components from a set of those lights, though.
