That's just rediculous this video was uploaded back in 2010... How did we miss this?

Dunno but we've got a lead on this now without re-engineering the car. Two things that bother me are:

1) Will it work only with the new keys or will it beep with my OEM remote keys? (I'm not sure it will but you can use BOTH units in conjunction with each other apparently)

2) There is no weather sealing and that is what leads to the failures, housing the box into something or putting the innards into a weatherproof box would be necessary. It's possible that this is far more of an issue in the 92-94 LS400's trunk than in the cabin of the SC300/400.

Beyond that, as was mentioned in the LS400 thread, it has no mounting provision. I am forgetting exactly where the OEM transponder is but this thing needs to be secured.

That's easy 3m double sided tape or Velcro

And after looking at the video it seems like you can retain the oem key if you like

Yes, you can retain the OEM key and original transceiver but the designer didn't explicitly demonstrate whether or not using an OEM Lexus key (triggering the original transceiver) would also make his box beep simply because it intercepts that electrical signal to the door locking mechanism.

But this is the best solution with the least pain involved so far. And it beats spending $400 at the dealer for a new set of remote keys.

I have just emailed the website to ask if it is still produced, what it costs and if the beeping mechanism will work with both the aftermarket chipped keys or just with the original Lexus keys.

Why can't you just tap in a simple speaker to the door lock ecu?

We have the schematics for doing that listed earlier in the thread using two different beeping units. That was my original intention but this solution being plug and play may be a good alternative.

As soon as I hear from them I will. No email reply yet. If I have time I will call their number tomorrow and ask my questions.

I have a reply from the manufacturer:

The receiver itself with the radio wire is $35.00. Each remote key is $50.00 (up to six).

Beeping ONLY occurs with the remote keys matched to this kit, unfortunately.

So this tells me that if some of us need new keys it might be a good idea but for the original purpose of making the Lexus OEM keys trigger a beep this won't do it.

Solution for some but not a final solution.

what the hell my post disappeared.. what i did was i tapped the 12v for the lock and this is just a 12v pulse i simply ran this to the piezo buzzer so when i lock the car i get a single beep sounds just like the oem beep if i press the button and hear nothing i know its unlocked.

Cleanshots, that has happened to me too. Nonetheless, thank you!

Where exactly did you tap the 12V for the lock? Was this at the fuse box? And the piezo buzzer... was that hooked up directly or did you use a relay?

If a relay is better (and to prevent battery drain) I think I'd be inclined again to use this beeper device. What do you think:

Note: I was going to try the Moerse relay beep module for Tacomas but the manufacturer may have discontinued it. I've emailed them to check into it. It was a simpler module intended to trigger off flashing parking lights (which we don't have but any trigger will work-- especially your solution).

yea i agree, a buzzer hook up is the easiest way to solve the problem. youd need to run 2 wires tho. i like the 'chirp' from bmw

i dont use my key remote anyway so this isnt an issue for me, i got used to manually locking it like the old days. whos to say the car wont break and make the beep sound w.out locking???

Impossible since (with Cleanshots' 12V trigger method) this could only happen if the electric door locking system itself failed OR if you turned off your 92-94 Remote key dash switch. The latter would mean you have to lock the doors with the key manually anyway.
