Default What is this switch for?

I picked this up from a friend who has lots of sc stuff and I have owned 3 of them and none had this switch.
I was going to use it for my trans mod but just can't live with tan in a black interior car even sem is a no no in my book.

Sounds like this is the switch for the keyless entry.. Think on some models you were able to disarm/ arm the keyless entry.

Found this thread searching the interwebs... Looks like it goes under the dash panel next to the fuel and trunk switches...

Yes that would be it but I wonder why on earth one would need this? I am confused why you would wan't to turn off the keyless function?

I just like the fact that it would fit and look factory but I just can't use tan Btw it was from a 93 so that would explain why none of my other sc's had it as they were all 95-98

Yes, that disables the remote usage. IMO: I think it is just as weird as a CD changer in the trunk, or a rear view mirror visor....

In the 90s everybody was paranoid over code grabbers for alarms & keyless entry. OEM systems didn't "code hop" for most of the decade. Directed Electronics started doing it in 1993ish with their alarms (Viper, Steal Stopper nka Python).

I guess this was a way people could feel that their luxury coupe was safer while parked. $40k in 1992 was a fortune!

User manual recommends to leave this switch in OFF position when you know you´ll leave the car for a couple of days so your battery will not drain too fast.

I believe that switch will also disable the trunk release and the fuel release (valet functionality) That switch is present on both my '95 SCs. - Brent

Actually, the lock in the center of the 2 switches do this. When you push the lock in, it will lock access to the trunk only.

You sure? Not in my 95', however there is a snap on cover over the location of the switch. I looked in the 92' manual and it has a diagram/picture with the switch, but does not explain/describe the switch.
