In the market for a Sc
I've been lurking for the past few weeks on the forum reading up on things and looking at the different mods that people have done and I have fell in love with the SC.
LINK REMOVED READ THE RULES PLEASE. IT IS AFTER ALL, STUCK TO THE TOP OF THE FORUM.
I found this car and was wondering what is the difference in trim levels, i didn't even know that these cars all didn't come with leather seats. Also what does that piece that is missing to the right of the radio actually do?

That missing piece is the butterfly cup holder, if you have it you usually don't wanna use it since it sucks as a cup holder. However I use it to hold my air freshener
Fabric seats sounds alright if you ask me, leather gets really hot and you need to condition it from time to time. Just make sure you don't spill anything on this fabric since it leaves stains unlike leather.
Overall the car looks pretty clean, if you want it I think you should go for it. Since it was a 92 I was expecting it to be a 5 speed, normally everybody aims for the 98+ SC's.

yeah i have found a view in the area for sale
and as far as the seats, i would like to have leather, but i have found a set of black leather seats for like $300 close to me
hopefully the dude still has it in the next few weeks, still parting out my other car and saving up more money.
i would like to get an older one for historic tags to save a bit of money a month lol haha

Looks clean, but do your research/common problems on the Sc to know what to look for when viewing/test driving the vehicle. The color of the Sc is not Teal it's Silver Spruce Metallic, Teal was only offered in 95' not 92'.

Here one site that has a list of common problems found with the Sc 300/400. Good Luck!

One thing to check if you care to is to see that all the number match on the car. Check this article out:
There are some good buying check lists on here too. If you have a trusted mechanic, have him check it out. It will help negotiate a lower price if needed to compensate for repairs needed.

The stickers on the fenders, doors, trunk, etc have serial numbers that should all match too.
From personal experience, do not rely on CarFax or any other type of service like that to tell you the whole truth. These cars were around way before any of these services existed and can be wrong.
Yes, believe it or not the 1992 SC's are officially classics now!
Good Luck and welcome to the club.

Nice. Are there any benefits or cost savings for getting historic plates?
#11
In Virginia you get a few benefits for historic/antique plates. It has to be 25 yrs old and you get reduced or waived registration fee, you don't have to get it inspected each year but you are subject to x amount of miles a year for "pleasure" driving meaning no dailying or you get fined or taxed or something idk. Maybe it's the same in MD but I know you only have to inspect the car when you register it so idk. It sucks to be in a commonwealth state....

no inspection and plates are only 50 bucks to renew. they are so lenient in MD, you see a bunch of da intergras and other buckets of fun with historic plates, that don't enforce it. you also get to get cheaper insurance as well, and depending on the carrier depends on if they actually check on the mileage restrictions, i haven't called nationwide yet

Man, I gotta wait another 5 years to register it Historical here. Not sure how good that would look though on such a modern looking car. lol
Couldn't find any benefits either. California is so broke, they don't want to discount anything. lol
