Default SC400 in Winter? Thoughts?

Hey guys, well as stated before...i'm KEEPING THE SC400! I got the cheaper insurance rate although still abit pricey (340ish a month) but decided with my dad, that when winter comes, were gunna store his civic se and put the sc400 on the road for winter, i'm prepping already by chaning out the oil, i already changed it to 5w30 synthetic is this ok for winter? also gunna change the tranny oil to type IV i heard it's better to change only 2qtz at a time is this true? also gunna get new winter tires, this car is gunna have a full house in it! all seats will be filled as we will use it in winter for the family ride, and i get to drive it

So my questions are, how do fellow sc400 owners find these cars in the winter? i heard the nokian tires with this car are unbelievable, my trac sensing unit is unplugged plugged it back in, still has the lights on: TRAC and TRAC OFF are both on, but will be solved i'm sure once i plug the trac in and don't judge me, car came that way its just not on the road as yet got hooked up with ntk o2 sensors and are gunna buy them guy wants 40 a piece brand new! and also gunna change out to magnaflow exhaust which i picked up relatively cheap (all chromed out for 50 for the pair, yes you read right, 50 for a set of sweet magnaflows!!)

Please let me know if i'm i'll be doing is right thanks, car is gunna be prepped from now and will be set up for winter!!!

Its seems like everyone is for the civic lol only reason we wanted to drive the SC4 is because we wanted to keep the civic rust free as we are going to be keeping it for the longest time we can 12+ years easily with maintainence, we usually put in mid-grade and it last longer and is better than unleaded!!! alrighty then civic it is!!!! thanks guys, any other input would be highly appreciated! But seems like it will be civic nation in winter lol thanks fellow club lex and sc4 members!!!!!

Why would you store an everybody has one Honda Civic and drive a modern classic in the snow? That would akin to me storing my Pontiac Grand Prix and driving my Challenger in the winter. It makes absolutely no sense unless your SC400 is not in great shape, and the Civic is new or something, then maybe I could see it.

Hey yeah i see exactly what your saying thats why i wanted some advice to see if it's even worth it, oh dang a challenger? what year sweet ride bro sweet sweet ride, but yes your dead on, we just got our civic like 3 weeks ago, @ 14,500km it's now as 16, 300km and the sc400 i have is @ 296 564 or something like that kms and needs a little bit of engine work, but i see exactly what your saying this car def is a classic, i will most likely take your advice and everyone on here, and have my dad drive the civic in the winter instead of my sc400 thanks for the advice bud, didn't think of it that way!!

All that being said, I had no problems in snow with my SC400 and said Nokian tires. The car was unstoppable in a foot of snow and took on hills easily.

Blah just watch out for icy roads and keep your foot light on the gas and brakes. Unless you mean to drift dont do anything stupid. Car is a beast even in the snow.

Was seriously thinking about driving my SC4 this winter with a good set of winter tires. This would have been a serious change from the last three winters where I was plowing through the snow in a 4x4 Sequoia. Anyhow, luck came through and ended up getting a hand-me-down Subaru Outback from my sister. The Outback will obviously be my new winter ride, but up until a couple of weeks ago I was drawing up plans for the SC as the winter ride.

The only thing I'd suggest is knowing how to handle the different power/weight transfer on a RWD vehicle in the snow. It is totally different than on a front wheel drive. Get used to that as a matter of second nature and you will be okay.

Over the years, I've driven ALOT of different vehicles in the snow and ice the SC is as good as any other rear wheel drive car......I prefer TRAC OFF for snow and ice.

The Civic by far would be safest in the snow. I hate driving mine in the snow, but have no choice. My only car.
