Lexus=quality and plus the 400 hold the value a little more than the 300.

Same treatment like an NSX.
Some people are wondering why it costs more than a corvette
True that. My last car was a 1991 NSX and a clean low mileage one cost me nearly 30k.

I had looked into MKIV's just before buying the NSX because I had a Supra TT 10 years earlier and regretted selling it but when I saw I could get an NSX for less then I went that route.

Now here I am with a budget SC looking to go turbo... Funny how things work out.

I have a 93 SC400 with 91K miles. I have turned down two offers of $9500 in past three months. I'm simply not interested in selling the car.

My 3 previous cars

99 GS400 w/ 114k sold with 168k Bought for $8900 sold for $7800. Alpine w black interior

00 s2000 w/108k sold with 126k Bought for $7800 sold for $10k

Current car 99 SC400 w/106k currently has 111k. Bought for $9300 last March.

I may have paid a fair amount but the car was in amazing shape and the reliability and resale that my GS had, sold me on the car. Plus a previous CL member owned my car before the seller I bought it from. The true cost of my SC was 10k though as I used the extra $700 to fly from AZ to MD and drove it home over 3 days.

Thanks for the support, I did just buy it a few months ago, but I did do my homework, and thought that I got a good value. The car rides like a magic carpet, the stereo is like thunder (Naki) and when I stomp on it, it freaking gets with it. Not quite like my wifes IS350 min you, but still gets moving well.

It's black with Tan int, and I find it to be a pretty nice car considering it's 12 years old...

VERY nice car. I have a black exterior / tan interior as well. I personally like it more than black/black. It would be quite different with a 5-speed manual and 4.769 TT Auto LSD swap.

I guess I don't get why people want to make these cars into race cars. They are LUXURY sport coupes. If you want a bad *** fast car, get a supra MKIII, and put your twin J into that. I sold my 91 mkIII and decided to have the smooth silky ride that Lexus gives instead.
that's how I see it anyways... Because I think a supra beats an SC300 every day of the week with similar motors...

Down here is SOCAL black on black is too hot, Black on Tan is way better...

OMG!!! So much passion in here. Yeah, the new guy made some "soso" word choices, and now we are name calling. Really? He said the car was ugly; so what! I don't agree with his accessment on the look, but its his opinion. Everyone has there own taste. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean its wrong. Its a forum people. Chillout. We are all here to learn from each other. I wonder how many of you were so passionate about your SC before you owned one or your first Lexus? There are many of us who came from the Honda side and started off like the new guy; devoid of knowledge.
Newbie, welcome to the Sc forum. In time you will learn to appreciate and understand why they are priced within that bracket. Also, you will gain knowledge that many have accumulated over the years.

To each his or her own. They are unique cars in that they aren't just luxury coupes. They actually have a lot of sportscar engineering in them so I don't see it as that much of a stretch to make them into muscle cars. The size of them remind me of old 1969-1974 Chrysler/Plymouths.

Anyway, I love MKIII's but I thought those cars generally had more weight and a bit more flex to them. SC's would be a hell of a lot more sport than luxury if Toyota had left the 1JZ engines in them for export. All three are fantastic cars but they are all performance machines.

Putting a 5-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential into a V8 SC400 is hardly taking it into "race car" territory. BMW 3-series coupes have manuals and LSDs.
