I vaguely understand what you're saying here... but it has very little to do with specifically getting the car to a Skyline-matching horsepower level, which is going to be expensive.

An FT-86 is a great car but it is only an upgrade from my NA 5-speed SC. These cars aren't fuel efficient nor are they incapable of producing high horsepower V8 numbers when they are swapped or properly boosted. Totally different car than an FT-86, not to mention a Tesla. It's like saying you think trading in your 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner for a Pontiac Solstice Non-Turbo 5-speed is better than keeping and enjoying the Roadrunner for what it is-- a muscle car. It's a classic that has terrible fuel economy but it sure does go when you've worked the engine over.

SC's are not the best sport GT cars around but they are very unique muscle cars. If the fuel economy or age worries you then I recommend buying a second car that has better fuel efficiency.

Tesla Roadster I'm not sure I'd buy even if I had $110k for it. Lots of battery pack and range issues.

The FT-86 I'd buy in a heartbeat. It's great! I wouldn't let go of my SC300 just to buy it, however. Two totally different cars.
