...

Why have you gotten tired of your SC?

If it's because of mechanical issues, fixing those will be a lot cheaper than dropping six grand on another money pit.

Honestly yes mechanical issues and cosmetic. Sometimes I cringe when I fix something and something else pops up. Also I like that 97+ body as well as the 98 sc400 5 speed auto transmission on a vvti. I was looking for opinions to determine what price those are worth and whether selling my current for one of those is really worth it or not.

Its not final yet, but I'm tired lol.

Every used car is going to give you issues, no matter what. Giving up on one car just because it has problems for another one that you don't know the history of is ****ing stupid. Just keep it and actually fix it.

As for the price on that car, that's below the average price for a 1998 in good condition. That is, if it IS in good condition. It looks to be, but pictures are deceiving and the only way to really tell is to have a mechanical inspection done.

well its up to u if u wanna give up or not, but in terms of that cars value, i say its a bit high, but im not an expert. pluses are the interior looks good but its not black, white 97+ exterior( if in good shape with no fading/chipped clear) that is easily sellable if u want to upgrade.
the negitives are the mileage is on the higher side. its not a manual. and its not a 2jz.. which might not be what ur looking for so its not exactly a +/-.. it is for me. Hey talk him down to 5500 and i say its a good deal to me.
I got my 94 sc300, bad tan interior, decent exterior, and a lil more mileage for around 4k if that helps at all

I'd say for that price it should have 130k or be black interior still it is a 98 so if you really love SC400s I would buy it.

1998 - 2000 SC400s are the most enjoyable SCs to drive in my opinion.

Thanks for your input. I dont think I'll be talking to that guy though lol. I am also considering an LS or going back to a Cadillac. I love me some V8 and as you said being boosted and all that stuff isnt for me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to clarify, I am not buying THAT exact car, one of the reasons is it's white.

I have experience making very stupid decisions when it came to buying cars and I learned from my mistakes. Also being here taught me a lot about weighing my options and what to consider while buying a car. So rest assured I wont be going through any transaction until I have learned the history and thoroughly inspect any car I'm buying.

On the other hand I have no idea what these things cost and the book always puts a higher price than what people would sell for. I'm humbly asking those with experience to give their thoughts and share their expertise. The part about me being tired of mine is just letting off steam. I'm weighing options and I do have a budget to follow, but If I do find a good deal... why not? You never know what one may stumble across. I am interested in the 98+ for reasons I mentioned above, so... I'm looking at them

Thanks all.

1998 SC400s are AWESOME. I wouldn't spend 1 single dime fixing a 1992-1997 model when I know there was a 98 model waiting to be driven.

I say wait for a 99-00 model if your looking for a sc400 atleast. They come with a lot more power stock than the earlier years its worth the wait

I've spent a lot of money converting my SC to a 97+ body style. Your adding a newer engine, cleaner interior, etc to the mix, I'd say it's worth looking at.

+1 If you do not plan to boost and want the V8, 98-00 are the highest yielding hp years. If later on you plan on FI, then stick with your 95.

If I may ask, reasons? What was the determining factor?
