Running a higher wattage halogen bulb will mean more heat and it will also put more strain on your factory wiring harness. If you are looking for a brighter/whiter halogen bulb I recommend the Osram Night Breaker Plus or the Philips X-treme Vision halogen bulbs.

I'm using high beams 100w 9005 for LS400 '98 more than 1 year without any problem (not replace a fuse). No burns, no melting, nothing.

If your looking for a little more light without breaking the bank.... what I did was buy high beam bulbs and used them as low beams...( all you have to do is grind down the tab on the high beam bulb ) and then it will plug right into the low beam socket...I did this on my SC about 2 years ago and not one problem yet
Just my 2 cents...
