Judging by it's vin this is about number 450 of 581, making it within the last 220 or so SC300's ever made making it literally about the newest SC300 out there.

as far as differences between the two (my personal opinion here):

you can't even notice the VVTi (don't the 92-97s have the exact same hp?)
the fuel economy isn't any different
i am a car fanatic, and i had no idea the projector headlights were different
i never used the homelink
the key is cooler, but it's kind of thick and bulky. and it costs about 3x the 97 key (and it does the same thing)
the 98+ ECU is much more complicated, so it's much more difficult to mod (ever 5spd swapped one the non-ghetto way? i have)
i guess my leather was nicer in my 99, but my 97 leather is in very good shape, so i haven't really noticed this one.
the 98+ pseudo drive-by-wire throttle body is way too complicated, and costs a lot of $$$ to replace (i had a receipt where the previous owner had replaced mine)


i think the main reason people always want a "97+ SC" is because of the bumpers, the tail lights, and the cluster.

after owning 3 different SCs (and getting way too deep into modding them), i'd say i like my 97 much better for the price. but i have secretly always wanted that 98+ purple/maroon color

Your 97 already had a lot of things the 2k does, but the differences were substantial under the skin.

yes, the differences being the ones i listed above that i said were unsubstantial and/or not worth the extra $2000 the 98+ costs. i was just saying i'd rather pay $1000-2000 less and get a 97.

now, i do agree that going from a 98+ from a 92-96 would be a big upgrade.

I was not supposed to like this car as much as I do.

I REALLY hate myself for considering buying it. PLEASE someone beat me to it. I am like within a day or two of not being able to resist.
