Suspicious Price For SC400
I currently have an LS400. I want to sell it, hopefully for around $3,000, will be happy with $2,000 though.
Anyway, I found an SC400 that I want to buy.
It's being sold in Southern California.
It's a '95 SC400 with 113,000 miles being sold by an individual, and they're asking for $2,220.
The other SC's in the area start at $4,000.
With a price that low, I think that it's either a Salvage title, or the car has a bunch of problems.
I just emailed the person, asking for the condition of the Car and the VIN, so I can do a bit of research.
What are your thoughts on this? If I end up having the money to buy it, can a member here who owns an SC come with me to pick it up, and take a look at it?
Anyway, hope you guys can help.
Thanks in Advance,
Moses.

Funny OLT, very funny; but wouldn't you be suspicious of a car this low also? The phrase, "too good to be true" comes to mind..
It's in Claremont.
Only information about it is this:
UP FOR SALE IS A BEAUTIFUL 1995 LEXUS SC 400 V8 3L2 RENAISSANCES RED COUPE WITH FULL 2000 OEM BODY PANELS. CAR HAS 113,000 MILES ON IT.
It has IS wheels, and looks real nice:
Again, there is no VIN given. I emailed the person and asked for it.
I gotta sell my car first though before I get this. Probably gonna post it on Craigslist tomorrow.

I thought he was talking about that too. I think it could be a reflection.
I know, right? A price this low is definitely too good to be true. Hopefully I can sell my car for a decent price, and hopefully try and get this for $2k or less.

^Sounds like a plan
This is the only interior pic she has of the car:
^It looks worn out, but I remember seeing a tutorial in the SC forums of how someone touched up and dyed his leather seats, and I think the plastics in the car too!
I posted my LS, I'm asking for a lot, but I put down OBO. Hoping to walk away with at the MINIMUM $2,500.
I know the sentence with the maintenance being up to date, then saying how it has a few problems is a bit contradicting, but whatever.
Plan to show them car and have them take a look at it themselves before I answer any questions.

my thoughts on it, u can buy an sc for 7k and it is still prone to the same problems. id say go for it, if u drive it and its mechanically sound. im selling my 97 for 5k obo when everyone else is selling them for about 7k or more. some ppl dont care to get rich off of a car that is already very old.
word of advice, ive said it a million times but, drive the car at high speed. about 60+ mph. if it vibrates of shakes dont do it. this simple test will save u tons of money. most ppl, including myself, only start the car and check under the hood and drive it around the block. dont do this. REALLY test drive the thing. inspect it like u dont care one bit to own it. and a plus is it already has 97+ body kit. gl

Well, I got two emails for my car listing. I think one of it is BS cause it's from a person named Mrs. Vaginia Bethel..
The other person seems legit. Both interested in my car.
I haven't received an email from the SC owner, but I plan to call later on today and negotiate on a few things, such as price, and if they can hold on to the car until I sell mine. Also to get the VIN.
Definitely will test drive it, windows down, on the freeway going 70 mph. Hopefully the car doesn't rattle.
I'll keep you guys update on this.
