Default How to tell if the pioneer amp is bad?

I hooked it up today for the 1st time in a year since I bought the car as it never worked and it just goes tap, tap, tap, tap, tap over and over again it is as loud as maybe volume 4 on the head unit so not loud and the sub is where the noise is coming from.

Is this amp just for the sub and no other chanels in factory foram? The head unit powers the speakers now.

Here is a pic of the hack wiring job the previous owner did and I spent all day removing butt connecters and soldering/shrink tubing all connections to make it safe again
I have no idea what these rca;s are for and it looks as if maybe a high level input of some sort for an aftermarket amp? It's part of the metra harness if that helps any?

Hmm Maybe I should rephrase my question Lol, Is it common for these amps to fail? and there are 2 amps correct 1 for sub and one for mid/highs?

Get a multimeter and check the output amps.

There is nothing about this amp that is desirable to keep it in the car. An amp bypass takes merely minutes for the highs by jumping at the factory amp and you can drop any sub amp in with an amp kit. The head units today put out more power than the factory amp to the mids and the sub only requires 50 watts or so before it maxes so now ia a good time to replace it with the preferred choice written about in the audio forum.
