My New Steering Wheel
Hopefully this will help answer questions that other people looking to swap steering wheels may have.
The steering wheel is from an 01+ GS. It fits with no issue. The airbag is from an 01 RX which is single stage. It fits the GS wheel and it should fit SC430 wheels, and ES wheels perfectly as well. You can get the sub harness for the airbag connection or you can swap connectors, which is what I did. You can also splice. The connectors on the back of the airbag are hard to remove but they do come out. Make sure you swap the cruise control switch because although it plugs in to the SC's receptacle just fine, it doesn't work.
The wood grain on the wheel is just slightly lighter than the rest of the car but hardly noticeable. The install took about 45min. If I had to do it again it would be 30min tops.

Congrats on your new wheel but this has been discussed many times before. All Lexus wheels are interchangeable all the way to 05 models. Where the difference comes in is the single stage, dual stage air bags. That's all. We have dome several steering wheel swaps from the first gen rx300 to the sc and didn't have to splice anything. Only thing as you stated is to swap your cruise control to the new wheel.

True, even if it has been discussed before, it does not mean that it is not in need of further discussion. Many times, I use the search function and end up with multiple threads on the same subject, though only one of them will have the specific answer I am looking for.

Looks great, I have a single stage bag on my RX wheel but the bag did not come with a wire on the back of it. I'm not talking about the wire that you buy separately from carson either...I"m talking about the wire that usually comes with airbags. It DOES NOT have a part number and no one has an extra one. I've been driving around with a non-functional bag for 6+ months. I need to get mine fixed before inspection time in March 2012. I guess I could buy a cheap corolla bag and jack the wire from the back, but that's such a waste of money. Anyways, if anyone has an extra wire that comes direction from the bag that attaches to the toyota single stage connector that you buy from carson, let me know. I'll pay big $$$.
Basically I need the wire highlighted in red. This is what typically people have to splice...

I almost jumped into this a few weeks ago, I saw one exactly like this in eBay for $300, I just thought it was too steep cause I have access to a pick-your-parts shop where they sell it for alot less I just have to wait for awhile until they find one that I really want.
