For what its worth. the other 2 SC's that i know of that caught fire DID NOT have HID's. Dont be scared guys. Its just a reminder for us all to stay on top of our cars. not just slamming them and throwing a hair dryer on it.

This is unfortunate though. Its a blessing that you or a loved one were not injured.

Antifreeze getting on HIDs and sparking a fire that killed her? I find that hard to believe because HID's put out less heat than a standard halogen bulb. I can grab my HID bulbs after running them all night vs a halogen that I can't touch after 15 seconds of use in 98*.

Sorry to see your loss, but, more than likely oil or fuel was the source. Leaky valve covers dripping on the exhaust after a nice run can cause a fire.

wow! Sorry for you lost bro! Thank GOD no one was inside! Well take what ever money your insurance pays you, and start over. This time make it better! There seem to be a rash of SC being sold on CL-look in the classifieds, good luck!

Wow all your responses are helping a lot! thank you all for your condolences lol....cant do anything but laugh now at this situation....glad my loss will help a few prevent my fellow SC owners from loosing their car! the Cats catching on fire makes the most sense so far because that is the area with the most damage..NEXT TIME STRAIGHT PIPES ALL THE WAY!!!!..the insurance guy will be here to look at it on Monday and after he leaves I’ll start taking what I can and open up the hood and post pixs....pm me if you want something from the interior there was no water damage there just burnt plastic smell (nothing fabreeze cant fix) lol
