it seems that you would need the power transistor. The 97 part wouldn't be the same as my 93 part though. Just get up under the dash and look for something similar in place of where my pictures show and then you should be able to get the part number straight off of the transistor

Edit: Wait, I think the 97+ models might not even have a transistor anymore. I believe that got built into the actual A/C unit. So your problem might be the headunit itself

Yea there is a relay only it seems http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php
It only shows a transistor up to a 95 so this is why I am at a bit of a loss here?

I have a spare head unit that needs rebuilt which was from a 95 but I feel like it won't work right.

alright so here's i my question for you guys,

2 weeks ago i bought my 92 sc300 the ac worked perfectly, amazing cold yadda yadda.. two days ago in the morning (98 degrees) i went to start up my car and after it was warm, i turned on the ac, only to find out its not blowing out air. Took it to a local mechanic shop, and the mechanic that was present there ran a direct power line test from the battery to the blower motor and while they were conducting the tests, when in direct contact to the blower motor the ac worked! The mechanic says that it can either be the relay or even a resister / fuse? Does anyone have any insight to this? thanks for your help!

Is the air not blowing out at all or just on the lowest setting? It might be the power transistor

hmm then most likely it isn't the transistor, that may be a problem with your blower motor.

Thank jeebus I found this thread. Just recently my a/c started to just blow air on the high fan setting only. Everything else works fine (the temp setting for hot and cold). but really annoying to have the ac only on high. Thanks for the info guys and hopefully this fixes the issue.

Well my transistor is bad and my fan is stuck on low. Does anyone know how I can change it from being stuck on low to stuck on high? I just don't feel like spending $100+ on a transistor at the moment and since it's summer I wouldn't mind it being stuck on high honestly.

Yes I have the same issue, mine only blows on low all other functions work. While going down the road occasionally the fan will come on high for a sec and then go back to low. I am going out on a limb and saying power transistor but I saw in a couple of posts that the later cars 95 up dont have a transistor is that correct??

Thanks

Sorry to resurrect this super old thread but trying to find an answer here that I can't find the answer to. Have a '95 SC300 and cannot find a transistor or resistor anywhere behind the glove box. My fan is stuck on only high and low and nothing in between. Does anyone know on the '95 if everything is built into the control head or is there a part I can attempt replacing that could rectify the problem? Or does anyone have a diagram of the blower/control head circuit for the '95?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum !

If I remember right only 92-94 has that power resistor to control fan speed . 95 and above fan speed has its control on the HVAC assembly.
