Default prob 92 sc300 with 95 tail lights

Is there any way to slow the flashing. It blinks real fast, like a bulb is out. I did not do it so I am not sure how it was done. Any help would be great.

welcome to the forum! i'm still trying to figure this problem out. i hear there are relays that can fix this problem. but the weird thing is, the 92-93 SC's with upgraded tail lights will have fast blinkers if you upgrade, but the 94+ SC's will NOT blink fast when upgraded. That's what i gathered so far on this forum.

ACleanSC4 upgraded his to 95's, and it blinks ricer style.

out own moderator Lex400SC had all the year's tail lights on his car with NO fast blinkers...

So, if anyone has a fix, please post. I'll be upgrading mine also. If relays CAN fix the problem, who and where can this be found???

I've had 92-94 tail lights, 95-96 tail lights, and 97-00 tail lights in my '95 and never had any issues with fast blinking. My blinkers are sychronized with the ticking of the signal in my instrument cluster and the headlights. Civics with low-quality aftermarket tail lights have been known to have fast blinkers, but there are relay kits that resolve that issue.

I'm guessing this problem has something to do with the relays and the electrical resistance of the upgrades. Probably some testing meter or something you can use to adjust that.

1st gen tail lights uses three* bulbs to signal... 97+ uses one... it's on crack because it thinks there is a bulb out.

is it possible to just let one bulb "hang out" in the trunk? that way, there's still two bulbs?

An inelegant but workable solution is to wire in an additional 21w bulb to each rear flasher circuit to slow down the flash rate, a better solution might be to change the flasher relay for the 97+ version I suspect this differs from the earlier unit which had to control more bulbs in the circuit.

You should find the flasher relay in the kickwell junction block, if the later relay has the same pin-outs just swap it for the later one.

ive got a taillight question as well (didnt want to have a new thread of basically same thing)

ive got a 95 and would like the 97+up tails. will it fit right? and how much on avg. would the lights cost?

i thought about the aftermarket 95-56 lookin lights with the clear bottem but seems too overpriced. just lookin for options, thnx.

the 95-96 clear bottom can be had for only dollars. here is a link

this is a easy DIY job. you can get the newer 97+ tail lights for around 300-400 depending on new or used. they will fit.

There are even more issues...

I have done a '97+ (actually a '99 I think) tail light upgrade on a '92...not only do I get a fast blink, the tail light failure light comes on (on the dash)...

I have installed the matching year tail light failure sensor (not cheap) and it still comes on.

Hopefully, DD and I can solve the problem...

As for the '92 tail lights:
3x 1156, 27W - For Blinkers
1x 1157, 27W/8W - For Tail/Brakes
1x 1156, 27W - For Reverse
1x 1156, 27W - For Tail Light

Does anyone have the exact bulb/type count for the '94-'96?

And the the '97+ (I'll check mine it sometime if someone does already have these)

Maybe a relay will fix the problem...

Lex400SC - Do you know what the bulb is for the FRONT turn signal?

I have a set of '99 headlights and it runs a yellow 1157 bulb (with no wattage rating listed on the base...I assume it's a 27W/8W like the others)...

Hey Robb, It's Art. The problem is that the 92 tail light has 3 bulbs on each side and the 95 has just one. It's looking for the other ones and cant find them so all the current that the relay is giving out is going to that one bulb. That is why it blinks so fast.

Since I just popped out my rear lights today,

I believe that there are these bulbs for the 95-96 taillights:

3 wedge bulbs - for blinking
2 1156 bulbs for braking
1 1156 bulb for signaling
1 1156 bulb for backing up

This is only for one tail light.

Here's a picture of the wire harness for the bulbs.
The ones with the black base are for the brake lights.
