Default Fuming on my Windsheild repalcement

Guys/Gals...this is just a B*t*hing session for me, i know this has been debated on here already, but I feel only true lexus owners will feel my pain and understand...so i feel better B*t*hing here than anywhere else.....I now have a crack in my windshield from gravel popping up off the highway and hitting my windshield, not only that, the tire off the truck peeled off and that hit my front bumper and that has some damage "Not much, just broke those little vertical bars in the bumper grill and paint now peeling. The insurance company will only repalce my windshield with Original Equipment Equivalent not OEM glass. I like the fact that my glass has the Lexus emblem on it, i paid for that originally, they should give that back to me. Also, from reading, the OEE glass is not exactly OEM specs as they copy right laws that prevent the companies from reproducing the glass exactly. I know lexus does not make their own glass...and from what I read it seems PPG makes the glass I may be wrong, but ***** I would like my Lexus glass without having to pay a ***** load out of pocket, that is the reason for me having top class insurance on all my cars. ******rs

I might be wrong on this...but it is just how I feel...why have insurance then?

Go to a chop shop and find you a SC, usually they only ask for $100-$150 for windshield install. Then, cancel your insurance company and tell 'em to ***** themselves! That's what I did when I couldn't contact them when my battery died in the middle of the night!

Read the agreement contract that you got from your insurance when you first brought your insurance. You could point out if they stated replacing OEM or Original Equipment Equivalent in the contract. Also, I did not know lexus makes their glass, all my glass says toyota.

I have a 99 SC and it says Lexus in the bottom right...an my car is otherwise prestine...she is a BEAUTY...I have to go search around for it, but I am sure they probably have OEE in there... I am going to get my bumper replaced and then jump ship...screw them..I have been with them for a total of maybe 10 yrs and only had one claim in that entire time for which they doubled my rates, should have dropped them then...In case anyone is curious, I am talking about GEICO....Yes GEICO...MODS...IF I am not suppose to mention their name, feel free to edit post and remove name....

Like Tament said this is for true enthusiast of OEM stuff. So no sense of you arguing/trying to convince the guy of getting OEE. I myself would rather get a 2nd hand OEM than a new OEE with no Lexus logos on it.

The OEM stuff was designed to cut down on wind noise.

The other stuff is just....glass.

my painter told me most of the big insurance companies are like this. They will not replace anything with OEM parts

he said state farm, geico, progressive, etc all do this practice

IIRC he said farmers was good about replacing parts with OEM equipt.

It does say Toyota on it, thanks for pointing that out, but my question to you Kohinoor, would you put a Hyundai or KIA emblem on you lovely Lex? i am just really pissed off, beacuse I pay really high premiums, comp/collision and all just to make sure i dont skim, and they are skimming me.

i have pilkington glass on my blue sc and oem on my daily. they more or less look the same, except for the label. ppg is of high quality as well. both companies are huge in the glass industry. a windshield is a windshield to me as long as there are no waves, but i understand why you want oem. insurance companies are about the bottom line so to them as long as a part meets oe spec, its ok to use. i dont think youll get an oem windshield out of them, but its worth a shot to review your policy and/or speak to your underwriter.

I live in AZ, land of busted windshields. I go through a new windshield maybe once/year. ' have top tier insurance, formerly Allstate, now USAA and NOBODY replaces with OEM glass, especially on old *** cars like we own. Hell, I don't even think you can purchase SC OEM glass anymore.

Besides, my wife's brand new BMW came with Pilkington. It's a losing battle bro. Don't drop an insurance company because of this.

Pilkington comes stock on Mercedes that cost $200k+ so it's probably good enough for an SC. Just saying...
