Cool *OK* new to leXus family

picked up this sc400 for $700

*better pics later*

i know nothing about these cars or the lexus family in general other than being a big fan and have been trying to get an ls400 forever but this will due

it has 154k-all stock with SOME issues
-the drivers side door will only open from the outside with the key
-i think its leaking tranny fluid because i saw some smoke coming from under the car after driving it around for a bit-dont know if its from a seal or what but just seemed to be a fluid burning off of the hot exhaust but there was not a puddle under where the car was sitting. it did shut off on me while backing up but it started right back up
-ill have to get a title 42 for it cus APPARENTLY the guy doesnt have the title

but overall the car seems to run well and just need some TLC
the interior and paint is pretty much crap but it IS 20 years old

and just for something to look at heres my current ride in its prime

and i conveniently have some wheels for this car just sitting around
but just havnt got to test fit them yet--hoping they clear the suspension up front
17x10.5+27 all around with 225/45

glad to finally have a lexus..hopefully i can get all these issues sorted out
any tips/comments/links would be much appreciated

thanks for reading

welcome. 225 on a 10.5...that's a bit too extreme for me.

thanks guys =] i thought itd be a fatty stretch but it actually fits really nice on these wheels-heres a pic of them test fitted on my s13 still at winter ride height ha

i was checking some salvage yards and i found a door for 200 so i might just do that since the window cant stay up on its own anyways...better than using tape? ha

and luckily i found a write up on how to fix the issue of the steering wheel tilt not working/going down that was about to be VERY annoying driving with it all the way up haha

Welcome

Looking forward to seeing it get the TLC it needs. Also, I've never seen 17's with that fitment on the SC so I wanna see how that turns out. Keep us posted.

+1. Waiting to see how those 17's look on the SC. Pretty damn sweet, I bet.

thanks for the motivation guys! everything i know from the fitment world and research on rimtuck.com this hasnt been done and i doubt theyll fit upfront without a spacer but hell-IM GUNA TRY =]

any stiff lowering springs you guys would recommend? there doesnt seem to be too many options without just going for coils but thats probably guna be a last resort for more lower at this time
the tanabes seem to be pretty reasonably priced and drop low enough for a more aggressive look while comfortable to daily on but im used to having 10/12k springs from the 240 so i duno how the tanabes match up to others-tried to search but not really sure what to think

^modest at best =P i just want a reliable/decent looking daily driver for now
if these wheels dont fit ill probably just throw on my stock 300zx wheels
but assuming they do fit they should look really nice other than the ride height =[
just checked the "official wheel/tire fitment thread" and saw this setup
F: 18x10+24 R: 18x11+32

i think with my offsets-poking an extra .5" in the front wont look bad with some fender love and the rears should fit perfect without really having to do much if anything

and of course i shoulda figured there would be people like klaus like there are in every car community who are speed/racing purists where this style has zero purpose or function which i am understanding of and totally respect your views/opinions

again thanks for looking and hopefully i can have some updates next week or at least better pictures...next ill have to do some research to see if ill need a different lug thread than my 240 =P

This car was on craigs list for 700 in Oklahoma. Me and my friend was going to go out there and buy it and make it a project car but after the pics he sent us I didn't want to pay that much for it at all. I kno the interior is shot. Like ripped out nd just replace it with new interior. But he did say it runs but haven't drove it
