Default HP build $3000 budget?

Im pretty sure I know how im going to spend my budget, but maybe you guys have a better idea. What do you guys suggest NA-T, 2JZ-GTE, 1JZ-GTE, etc, let me hear your thoughts
I have a 2000 SC300 auto (vvti engine)110,000miles all maintenance is up to par except I need to replace my a/c compressor(but its cold as **** rite now so Im waiting util it warms up to fix that).
Mod List
HKS Ti exhaust
Phillips HIDs (headlight and fog)
Lowering Springs and Tokico struts
18x9 in front 18x10 in back.

Im pretty sure Im staying auto, but a R154 sounds fun too. HP goals down the road are in the 450-500whp range(but I know itll take quite a bit more than my current budget to get in that range)
Whatcha guys thinkin???

how about just the 5-speed swap? not sure how hard the swap would be for you, but it sure seems the pieces can be had cheap, within the price range.
and it's been proven a manual makes more power than auto.

No, It's been proven manual transmission has less parasitic loss to the wheels.

I'm going NA-T and am planning to spend less than 3,000 dollars. A lot less actually. Probably less than half. Turbo kits are getting cheap. Find a cheap HX35 from a diesel truck for $300. Manifold - $100 Intercooler-$70 Intercooler pipes-$80 Wastegate-$150 misc stuff including oil lines and such $250 and SAFC/wideband combo $300

All of that for $1250 and you can probably find most of that cheaper.

2jz engine from ebay = 1600 (Highly doubting the condition)
MKIII R154 = 300
Bellhousing = 300
Shifter = 200
Clutch = ???
2jz harness conversion = 700

Not to mention ANY maintenance parts or replacement parts, which you will run into without a doubt, engine mount, transmission mount and such... and you'd be a fool to not do your timing and waterpump while the engine is out.

For 3000$, I say NA-T, specially when your engine is pretty low on mileage.

Just go NA-T with a fic or something for around 300ish whp. For much more you'll need to do more upgrades.

The GE's boost is limited by the compression ratio. You'll have to lower the compression by either changing out the headgasket or dropping into GTE pistons.

Opening up an engine that's over 10 years old I guarantee will require most of the gaskets, seals, grommets, o-rings replaced else they fail after reinstallation.

I am not sure if you are aware but the 2JZ-GE VVT-i has weaker rods which lower it's NA-T power limit.

I personally would not recommend a cheap junkyard turbo build. I would recommend you save up your money until you can afford a 1JZ-GTE VVT-i R154 swap in the meantime research everything you can so you will be prepared when the time comes.

The question you have to ask yourself is where do you want to put your money into. Go fast now with a turbo kit or an overall more fun driving experience with a manual transmission?

I agree with you 100% on the junkyard turbo, I think Ill pass on that idea. I am aware of the weaker rods in the vvti motor, w a thicker head gasket, will my factory rods hold 450whp? Im not apposed to building a gte outside of the car. I can be patient, my car runs perfectly fine, so Im in know hurry. I have a 293whp GSXR 1000 to pull out of the garage when I really want to fly anyways

3,000 won't get you too far

Say if you do get the 2jzgte auto, thats around 2,000-2,500 then you SHOULD rebuild it. Fluids oil all that junk adds up, extend harness.

NA-T you gotta deal with vvti all that junk,

If anything goes wrong and you only have 3,000. Good luck

SCott300 I do not know if the VVT-i GE can hold 450hp safe. The automatic transmission can not.

sc300jz Rebuilding an engine is a judgment call you make after getting the engine. VVT-i is not junk but a worthwhile upgrade.

I didn't call VVT-i junk, but its a LOT more involved than the normal 2jzge.

Thats true that its your call whether to rebuild it or not, but its most recommended since the engine is already out,
