info on tq ratings (when choosing a clutch)
just a little info I picked up on today talking to Evan at Exedy.
apparently these companies putting up tq ratings don't make it 100% clear for us the consumer what that number really means.
so I guess you can have 3 different types of torque ratings.
1. clutch torque
2. flywheel torque
3. wheel torque.
I learned that exedy posts wheel torque and ACT posts clutch torque.
now this a key bit of information because I was inches away from buying an act Xtreme clutch.
let me explain the difference as it was explained to me.
wheel torque * 1.20 = flywheel torque
flywheel torque * 1.25 = clutch torque.
so ACT's 630 tq = 420 tq at the wheels.
so make sure you know what number it is these guys are showing you. because it can be extremely misleading.

A 20% drivetrain loss to the wheel is pretty standard, but I don't understand how flywheel torque could be any different than clutch torque. That makes no sense at all; the clutch disc is directly in contact with the flywheel.
