i just enrolled in a fiberglass/carbonfiber/kevlar composite fabrication class. let me know if you need an autoclave. i plan on doing the exact same but also make vented style hoods, trunk lids, wise lip, wide body fenders and perhaps vertex bodykit. if everything goes great i may be able to make copys for everyone else on CL. pm me if anyone is interested so i can make a list.

I sprayed the high-build primer

Then let the wet-sanding begin..........................again

Some areas weren't fully cured, so tomorrow I shall commence. It's freezing outside...........................

you should trim off the excess fiberglass... it'll make it a lot easier to work around....

next time the trick is to trim the excess glass while the resin is still tacky.. that way its still in its "fiber" form rather than its "glass" form..

good luck!

Yup, did it already. I want to leave some extra on the edges to carry the mold from.

Sorry, I haven't posted any updates. but basically I've been doing a lot of grunt work to perfect that mold. I'll post pictures in a bit
I suspect I will get to it this weekend or during the week. But, between now and then, I need to come up with a vent design that's not over the top and functional.
I need ideas ladies and gentlemen..............

My idea is this..take this photo and follow the lines

Go on the inside of the lines and create something similar to this... But maybe make them a little longer because our hood is longer and maybe a little skinnier.

Funny you brought up the M3 hood, because I'm thinking of a variation of it. the vents have to be in different locations tho, as I'm trying to accomodate heat from the rad and turbo.
