Search for Steve Chumo's thread on his build...His first version was cheap and worked effectively. If you can weld, then you can do this. I believe you will have to relocate your battery to the trunk, but this should work out and at a minimum of cost. You won't have to do massive plumbing or deal with the electric oil pump you will have to design and install for a low mount set up. Plus, the turbo stays up front in your engine bay, protected from the elements.

You can run 5-6 PSI with the stock ECU, and you should be able to use the stock transmission as well.

If you're stumped on working with space, here's an idea, Not sure if you've ever heard about it but it's big with the Vette guys.

No need for an intercooler as the air gets cooled on its way to the motor.

Also, you would think that it'd lag, but since the heads on the motor can breathe as they normally would there really is no lag whatsoever.

i remember that STS turbo back when I was modding my mazda.. this was a viable solution since there is absolutely no room in that cars engine bay (v6)

Well, until you saw mine lol . I do remember seeing a blue sc the other day and thinking to myself, I wonder if that was that evo guy from CL? Im starting to see sc a little more often now that Im looking for em but every one Ive seen has a douche bag diver with a "mine's better" attitude.

Thank you very much for that info. The ecu was the only thing left I was worried about.
I've already ran the cables to the trunk for the relocate but Ive been too lazy to actually pull and move the battery.
Welding isnt an issue, I own a fab shop What I really want to figure out is how to jump over the a/c (hence the 6 mutilated manifolds).

start of my 1uz turbo....
haha the "what not to do" pic looks exactly like my buddy Nick and I the other night, except Nick was actually holding the pipes that I was welding but he stared at the ceiling.
I was gonna wait until I was finished to tell everyone but since I saw that youre using a volvo turbo I guess Ill break the news. The turbo Im using is an old CT20 from a 22RET pickup. I got it for free then rebuilt it to sell it but then decided to put it in my Lex.

Im sorry but I refuse to do a rear mount turbo.
Like I said, this is just temporary to hold me over till I finish my manual swap and also try to find a cheaper solution for turbocharging the 1UZ. I plan on doing a twin turbo eventually so whatever I do I want to make sure it will still work in the future.

Sweet, more Denver guys. We have no SC scene here at all, it's lame. Aurora has quite a few but they're all ghettofied so it doesn't count. We should get together sometime when the weather's nice and my car runs again.

Did you take the engine out of the car? If you measure and do it the right way, by swapping manifolds sides and some pipping you can keep the a/c.

You refuse to do a rear mount and would rather do the traditional set up, but the rear-mount works more in your favor, it's less work. Just a thought tho.

I'll def keep up w/ur thread to see what you come up with

Here's a pix of my old setup STS remote mount turbo on my SC400. Turbo is now mounted higher and moved about a foot forward towards the front of the vehicle. There is a hydra shield installed around the air filter now and skid plate mounted below the turbo. With my rear lip installed, the turbo is not visible. I'll take some new pix of the setup next time I put the SC back on the lift

My only concern with a remote mount turbo is that perhaps the road shock might cause so much shake as to lower the life span of the turbos. Maybe I'm wrong.
