I still think that on our cars rear mount is the easiest route to take. You just cant be too low thne, but for some people power is more important that looks anyway

hahaha...casting vote now. jk...carlosr154 swapped manis and has a nice lil single setup. I want to say stevechumo has another single setup. Not super hard just time consuming and expensive.

A rear mount will be my last resort. I dont really like the idea of running a pipe all the way back to the intake but we'll see I guess.

Honestly, the whole point of this is to see if I have the know-how and ability to turbocharge an sc400 without spending a single penny

I made a bit of progress today, I discovered that the manifold angle on the SC400, pre 94 LS400 and post 94 LS400 are all different and from the pictures Ive seen it looks like the pre LS400 manifold might work. I might not be able to try out this theory until monday but Ill let you all know asap.

Also, this might be a stupid question and something I must have missed in turbo 101. Why do you have to use both exhaust banks for a single turbo? The only thing I can think of would be that the firing sequence of the only half the cylinders wouldnt provide consistant pressure. Does anyone have more insight on this?

You can, but then your turbine driving exhaust output is halved. Volvo has done it on some models. If you want the most out of your turbo setup use both.

That actually might be better for right now since I dont want to replace my injectors yet. I do plan on eventually going twin turbo and even going as far as replacing my pistons and cams but I want to get my manny tranny swap done first. The turbo setup im doing right now is just temporary and at the same time see if I cant help the 1uz community with the lack of FI options. This engine is way to cool to just be left in the dark.

your stock fuel can hold up to 6 psi before it leans out.
It would be awesome to see this project work out. good luck!

You could definitely run a relatively small t3 off one bank. It's a pretty strange thing to do, but for stock injectors I guess you wouldn't need any more than that. I don't know about tuning it though lol.

All the 1uz turbo manifolds that retain AC are pretty much full custom, I am sure you can use part of the stocker but since I have not tried it I am not a expert.

That GTO system looks decent, but I'd be nervous about water getting in. With the air filter at a max height if like 8 inches, it looks like it's begging to shove water into your engine.

*You could invert the spare tire well out back and put all the turbo items up inside it.
